supported with Java 10 or Java 11 in 2.8.2 release notes

this, the 2.9 release will be nice too! Just saying, hehe lot of work and

The reason is that GWT hides default methods from GWT generators for 
backward compatibility as some generators might not expect them.

I don't know if there has been any discussion recently to change that.

Hi,

For the interface default method problem, it is related to ui:binder way of
using setter methods.

For exemple, if you have this interface:

public interface TestInterface {
public default  void setFoo(String bar) {
System.out.println(bar);
}
}

Then this class extending a component and implementing the interface:

import com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.TextBox;

public class TestTextBox  extends TextBox implements TestInterface {

}

If you call the setFoo via the uibinder it will fail



The error message is :
[ERROR] Class TestTextBox has no appropriate setFoo() method:


This kind of interfaces can be used to extends default gwt inputs with new
properties, and delegate the action to a helper  called by the defaults
methods.

Another datapoint is that debian unstable switched to openjdk10 for tomcat
so staying back to openjdk8 is also painful for me.

different Java -> JavaScript compiler internally. And yes there is really 
no timeline for GWT 3 as most work is done by contributors in free time. 
Currently we are trying to migrate GWT 2.x SDK code so it will become GWT 3 
compatible with mostly no breaking changes. This process happens on Github 
and you can see a list of projects being converted here: ci.vertispan.com . 
Also some people are working on build plugins to provide a better 
experience out of the box.

Optional methods and such things. Also some Java 8 APIs are still missing.

GWT 2.9 Questions

What are the plans to retire JSNI from 2.9 release? Will it be removed from 
2.9 or 3.0 document says 3.0 but there are no timelines mentioned for GWT 
3.0 so not clear on support
Will it have run-time compatibility with Java 11 as now Oracle Java 10 
public supported ends by September 2018?
GWT 2.9 will it be compatible with OpenJDK?
