I know that it should NOT apply to the daughter elements of a daughter element, but it should work for elements that are directly affiliated to the horiz- / vertical- panel; 2. it used to work (some older versions) and it does not work somehow now!! I think you made the incorrect assumption I once did - that calling setspacing() in those panels would set the spacing between all elements inside them.
