Re: Your GWT based open source project(s)
Thank you for the many replies. I'm impressed by the number of responses. I'd also love you hear which open source project actually motivated you to share your code. We recently open sourced Audit Surf (under GPL), and Alfresco SURF app displaying information on how you use your Alfresco repository: http://forge.alfresco.org/projects/auditsurf/ (Alfresco is GPL'd) (that's not our first contribution to Alfresco though, we also released the trashcan cleaner http://forge.alfresco.com/projects/trashcancleaner/ a while ago and even the original category navigator that's now built-in) We also released almost a year ago the French language pack for Pentaho 1.7 under GPLv3 http://code.google.com/p/pentaho-french-translation/ (Pentaho 1.7 is MPL'd) I'm currently writing a toolkit for our GWT projects (you know, all this MVP/DI/EventBus/Place buzz ;-) ) that I hope we will open-source soon too (I'm pretty happy with my Place module ;-) ) I'm not even talking about our contributions to other open source projects (besides code: bug reports, debugging, documentation, etc.): Open Layers, Spring.Net, etc. (and GWT, of course ;-) ) So yes, definitely, we LOVE open source, and our answer is not only to use it and encourage its use, but also of course contribute to the community (we were the one behind the very first French Alfresco community: alfresco-fr.org, now discontinued as Alfresco has integrated it in its own wiki/forums) --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Google Web Toolkit group. Re: Your GWT based open source project(s)
Definitely. I just put up my first Open Source package: http://code.google.com/p/asmodaiosgwt/ , for making AbstractImagePrototype's in an ImageBundle into a MapString, AbstractImagePrototype , so you can find them by a String(name). It's a simple bit of code that uses a Generator, took a few hours to write, but it solved a common problem. I use GWT in my day job extensively(for a major Financial in NYC), it has been incredible, the UI in our app is BLAZING speed, lots of custom Widgets, especially Tables ( 30ms display time ), unfortunately, this is proprietary code. It's one of our competitive advantages. If some ideas I have do not conflict with our core business, I'll add them to my package. Right now, I'm working on a GWT implementation of Yahoo Pipes ( http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/ ), but as a reusable library - and something like Bento ( http://www.filemaker.com/products/bento/overview.html ) btw, the first Open Source code I posted was in 1988, this is the first reference to it I can find : http://groups.google.com/group/comp.graphics/browse_thread/thread/409e0e16733e47e0/61dd5c396b3d6097?hl=enlnk=stq=Dean+Jones+teapot+NFF#61dd5c396b3d6097 , for rendering a Teapot??? ;-) as well as ( AFAIK ) the first Swing Pluggable LF http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.java.programmer/browse_thread/thread/6a6d8fa66a5bd844/153d65583878ac1d?q=Swing+Dean+PLAF I also released a widely used Icon Library: http://sourceforge.net/projects/icon-collection/ I wish I could do more, but my employer has first dibs on my cranial output. I can code almost anything in GWT, as long as it has no relationship to Finance or Banking in general, I'm open to suggestions... --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Google Web Toolkit group.
