it is a version that works with both gwt2 and j2cl at the same time. which 
is in the repository under the j2cl-public branch

To save you some pain, you should probably use the WSL (Windows Subsystem
for Linux). You can track the progress for and contribute to making it work
natively in https://github.com/google/j2cl/issues/9.
