RE: [gpc-informatics] #545: Study sample and DM sample definition for next-d

2017-03-13 Thread Bernard Black
We at Northwestern are still developing the definitions of which variables to
capture, and exactly how.
Once we propose a set of definitions, we will have a better sense of timeline.

Comment (by meiliu):

 Dan,

Yes, I am aware of the timeline. Alona indicated in her March 8 message that
it would be okay if one GPC site can provide the sample definition table by
middle of April. I'll look into your code and try to get the desired table
base off of KUMC data to Alona by middle of April.

RE: CDM V3.X procedures (was: #583: SNOW SCILHS Lab Metadata Expansion)

2017-03-13 Thread Dan Connolly
Jim and everybody,

It would help me if you could give one or two specific examples of each of
these:
 - Clinic and hospital E and professional procedures with CPT coding

Am I missing something there? Isn't this the ordinary CPT code stuff we already
do?
This is already in EDC tables and charts, yes?

 - Clinic and hospital surgery and other diagnostic and therapeutic
   procedures with ICD-10-PCS coding

Likewise, this doesn't look new to me.

 - Laboratory orders (with LOINC or CPT coding)

LOINC isn't new is it? Oh... orders, not results. OK. That would be tricky. We
have lots of lab order data, but it's all in local coding.

 - Medications administered (clinic or hospital) with NDC coding

I have never seen NDC codes for medications adminstered in the KU Epic system.

Comment (by campbell):

Data characterization calls the past 3-4 weeks with DRN OC have indicated
that CDM V3.X PROCEDURES should support when available:
Clinic and hospital E and professional procedures with CPT coding
Clinic and hospital surgery and other diagnostic and therapeutic
 procedures with ICD-10-PCS coding
Laboratory orders (with LOINC or CPT coding)

 May support when available:
Medications administered (clinic or hospital) with NDC coding

If we agree as a network we want to comply and we want this data in SNOW
SHRINE and have standard extracts to CDM PROCEDURES, then we need to agree
on SCILHS modifier extensions for medication administration and for orders

Comment:

 Mei,

As you may have seen, Tamara let me know that [[GROUSE]] remains a higher
priority for me. And we're still standing by for an update from MCW on
#551. And milestone:cdm-cycle3 is a priority in the April timeframe. So as
far as I'm aware, no GPC site is in a position to produce a sample
definition table in the mid-April timeframe requested in Al'ona's March 8
 message.
