If I remember the problem correctly, this ticket is still valid for
 Windows.

Confirmed: g.copy e.g. the boundary_municip NC map to myvector,
then edit an entry in the NAME column and insert | there, it
(apparently) do that but then no longer show the table. However,
a message is shown suggesting to change the separator to a different
 character.

So on Windows you cannot load attribute table data with pipe characters.

Currently no unless you select a different separator.

  Maybe we can change milestone?

To which would you change it? How about a condition if-on-windows
 predefine
a separator different from | by default? Which is more save?

[GRASS-dev] v.category report area

2013-04-12 Thread Martin Landa
Hi all,

`v.category` (G7) reports categories also for areas.

v.category rb opt=report
Layer: 1
type countminmax
point 0 0 0
line 0 0 0
boundary 0 0 0
centroid 1 1 1
area 1 1 1
face 0 0 0
kernel 0 0 0
all1 1 1

Categories are assigned only to the centroids. Areas (topological
composition of boundaries and centroid) shouldn't be reported by
`v.category`, I would say (?)

[GRASS-dev] r.pastro add-on

2013-04-12 Thread Roberto Marzocchi
Dear GRASS developers,

we are pleased to inform that a new command r.pastro is now available for
download in the Grass6 addons page (SVN repository).
We have also updated the grass add-ons wiki page (
http://grasswiki.osgeo.org/wiki/AddOns/GRASS_6)
PASTRO is the acronym for Path System Accessibility Tracks Outliner and you
can find more information in this pdf (
http://www.gter.it/documents/flyers/EN/flyer_gpastro.pdf ).

The command is now a GRASS6 bash script which use fortran and python
specific modules. We are trying to totally translate it in Python for
GRASS7, but we need time.. If people are interested to contribute, and also
to report bugs do not hesitate to contact us.

All the best,
R

[GRASS-dev] [GRASS GIS] #1926: g.gui.animation: parallel rendering with d.rast and d.vect

I would suggest to use d.rast and d.vect to create the render images in
 parallel in g.gui.animation.

At the moment r.out.ppm is used to create the render images which is IMHO
insufficient. There is no way to support vector maps with this approach.

In addition, the size of the render images should not depend on the
current region settings. It should be dependent on the size of the
animation render window. This can not be archived with the current
approach without tweaking the region settings.

Using d.rast and d.vect lets specify the size of the render images using
GRASS_WIDTH and GRASS_HEIGHT in the render process and allows the parallel
rendering of several images at the same time.

I have attached a patch to enable the parallel rendering of raster and
vector maps in the BitmapProvider class. It seems to me that this approach
is much faster on a multicore system then the current approach.

Comment(by hamish):

Yup, most of the relevant ones all seem to be there now.

Remaining of possible interest are d.text and d.graph(requires an input
 file).
d.graph is there in trunk, may be more interesting in future if we can add
support to have it read+plot eps and svg, or write a standalone converter
to create d.graph command input from eps, svg. (a GSoC idea)

d.rast.leg is not there in 6.x, not sure if that matters or even works in
 the wxGUI.
d.histogram is also not in 6.x.

 Low-value + perhaps not of interest for 6.x are: d.frame (wouldn't work
right?), d.split.frame(as with d.frame, any purpose?), and d.linegraph.

 not in any goutput.py: d.correlate, d.polar

fyi bug in 6.x goutput.py; d.shaded should have been d.shadedmap (fixed
 in svn).

 Hi,

in d.rast.leg the cell_misc/histogram file is used to decide if categories
without labels should be shown and the lines= command line option used.

I'm unsure of the intent, but the results can be a bit strange.
for example try running it for erode.index@spearfish.

In trunk the hist file check is there, but commented out.
