[GRASS-PSC] Enabling FAIR Data project commitment statement: Feedback, please.

2018-09-21 Thread Peter Löwe
Dear PSC members,
I would like to ask you for feedback regarding the proposal from September
10th, to sign the online commitment statement of the Enabling FAIR Data project
on behalf of the GRASS GIS project.

Is a motion for this needed/appropriate ?

best,
Peter

I have no specific objections to signing the commitment statement, but I
am wondering: does the GRASS PSC qualify as an organisation ? We do not
have any legal status.

Hi Moritz, PSC,

that's a good point. I will ask the ENabling FAIR Project and will report back.

best,
Peter

Hello Helena, Moritz, PSC,

here's the feedback from the Enabling FAIR Project:

"“Legal entity” is not required. Think of it more as the “decision maker” for
the organization. The person (or committee) who will be ensuring and
enforcing the changes within the organization to meet the elements of the
criteria."

best,
Peter

2018-09-24 Thread Helena Mitasova
Peter,

I think that GRASS support for this initiative is covered by the OSGeo
foundation as organization which has agreed to sign it. I am not sure we need a
separate signature from each project, but that is just my opinion, let us see
what Enabling FAIR Project says about it,

Helena
