Hi Enrico,
GRASS 7.6 is the last using python 2, and in 7.8 we moved to python 3,
though still supporting python 2. Could that be a problem?
What about compiling GRASS 7.8+ if not in the Debian stable repos?

Hi Enrico, GRASS 7.6 should not be a limiting factor. Did you try to install the addon through g.extension? g.extension extension=r.slope.direction operation=add If not, please try. If you did but get an error message, please provide the error message you got...
