note that beside official package (GRASS 7.4.0) [1] there are fresh
packages (currently GRASS 7.4.1) available in Ubuntu Unstable PPA [2].

Also PDAL is packaged for 18.04, so you can compile GRASS with it.

While I am mostly on Fedora, we also have GRASS GIS running on Ubuntu 18.04.

Newer distro = newer packages (e.g. if you want ZSTD compression for G75 etc.).

I'm running GRASS 7.4 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with no problems. I built GRASS
from source. I have no experience with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS).

I need to do an update of a production server with grass 7.2 and ubuntu
14.04 LTS to ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04 LTS and grass (7.4 maybe)

I'm reviewing the grass (grass 7.4) website and I find that the unstable
version works for trust and xenial, but looking inside the repository I
find bionic packages.
