Hi all, and Martin FYI, I see there's a 6.4.2RC release hot off the press. I've had a quick look at info about it, there's a sizeable amount of things been done around wxGUI/python, some of the stuff might still be on the wishlist for backporting etc, but I'll try and install a separate GRASS of this RC, and test if the previous issues I wrote about have been fixed. Will take me a week or so to fit it in with other tasks. Hi Martin, excuse slight delay in reply, busy elsewhere.. yeah, i think i put specs in earlier posts but they're _days_ old now ;-) and longwinded. 6.4.1 from 'unstable' ubuntu-gis repositories, as per info on grass download site. ubuntu 10.04.3 64 bit uname -a output: Linux [my-computer-name] 2.6.32-34-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 13 19:39:17 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux If you want to see how to 'reproduce' the problems I have, refer back to earlier post/s. Hi Martin, so if those error messages aren't relevant, and the wxGUI should be working with python 2.6... any suggestions on what else I should be looking into to figure out the d.vect freeze issue, and/or the lack of output from query tool in display mode? I just came across something more in regards to python misbehaviour - it may well be that GRASS 6.4.1 needs python 2.5 and ubuntu 10.04 has 2.6. One website that outlined their success with GRASS after getting the 2.5 python version is http://dipeshbhattarai.com/?p=57 (note they were using windows7 and it too had python 2.6) more searching finds other sites with ppa's etc for this 2.5 version. https://launchpad.net/~fkrull/+archive/deadsnakes http://welcometoubuntu.blogspot.com/2010/05/howto-install-python-255-on-ubuntu-1004.html I am yet to try it... a bit hesitant in whether I'll break something on my system... ;-) Anyone know if newer versions of GRASS use python 2.6 or higher?
