Re: [graylog2] graylog OVA 1.1 upgrade

2015-06-26 Thread Chris G.
Shouldn't matter, just download the tgz files from
https://www.graylog.org/download-graylog/ and then update the folders.

Ok, How did you do this? I just ran through the instructions on the

 wget
 https://packages.graylog2.org/releases/graylog2-omnibus/ubuntu/graylog_latest.deb
 sudo graylog-ctl stop
 sudo dpkg -G -i graylog_latest.deb
 sudo graylog-ctl reconfigure

and it still says its version 1.0? any ideas?

Pretty easy actually; just unzipped packages then renamed old directories
for server and web to have _old at end. Then renamed new folders to match
server and web i believe then started services again.

Re: [graylog2] graylog OVA 1.1 upgrade

2015-06-25 Thread Chris G.
Basic steps I followed:
1. Downloaded newest graylog server and graylog_web packages (gziped not
deb packages) to server
2. unziped packages then moved to /opt/graylog
3. graylog-ctl stop
4. Renamed the old folders with _old at end then named the new folder with
original name
5. graylog-ctl start

Hope this helps.

Re: [graylog2] Editing Collector.conf for use on Window Servers

2015-06-18 Thread Chris G
Yeah that helps, thanks. I guess I was hoping it would do stuff like filter
what it sends. I don't like a lot of noise. Thanks.

 Chris,

we have a Windows configuration example in our documentation.

 http://docs.graylog.org/en/1.1/pages/collector.html#windows

The example file shipped with the Collector is just to show some
 examples.

Regarding the test-log entry you are right, the Collector will tail
the file.log and send all new entries to the Graylog server.

It currently does not allow you to filter on warnings, errors and etc,
it will just send everything to Graylog.

 Hope that helps!

 Bernd

None of the example mention the different levels for sending, warnings,

Also the test-log entry is a bit confusing. Will this entry just send
