As an alternative to
http://wiki.grml.org/doku.php?id=remastering

I have done remaster of grml-medium_2010.04.iso
using hd-installation in VirtualBox. All steps to create
a personal CD within 30 minutes you can find in several
scripts as described on
http://www.wp-schulz.de/rettung.html

Perhaps it may be usefull for some of you.

[Grml] rxvt on grml_2009.05

2009-10-02 Thread Chaitat Piriyastit
Hi pals,

I have just installed grml_2009.05 on vmware on macosx. Yeah, it's awesome
as always. Thanks so much, the grml team. You just make me addicted to
grml already.

I have one problem (or it may not be a problem) with rxvt. I grml-x wmii.
I then "alt+p => rxvt". I get a weird rxvt (for me). It opens up an rxvt
with some tab/menu on the top most of rxvt window. It runs in as if it is
in a floating window although my wmii should make it in a tiled way. I
can't even make it active on rxvt window which simply means I can't use it.
Is there anything wrong?

Thanks,

I can watch video with mplayer but I don't hear the sound. I also can't
hear the sound when openning mp3 with mplayer. The same thing as Flash

Please advise me.

Ubuntu.

I am on hold on the usb installation because I am lacking of knowledge
about efi. I think BootCamp did something on my GUID Partition Table
when it created a vfat partition for Windows.

Anyway, I will concentrate on the harddisk installtion first.

I prefer grml... I use grml at home and I am so happy. I can only
take my macmini to the office. Not enough budget to buy a new
computer. I believe there is some few things wrong... the grml live
cd is working perfectly...

2009-03-03 Thread Chaitat Piriyastit
Now I tried repartitioning the harddisk that contains macosx using BootCamp
which prepared the disk for installing Windows for 8GB. Then I booted my
macmini with GRML live cd. I used fdisk to partition that /dev/sda3 and
maked as bootable. Then used grml2hd /dev/sda3 to install grml into this
partition.

Looking good so far.

After I had finished installation, I rebooted and booted grml from rEFit.
Yeah... I see GRML first page where I can select which kernel to boot of. I
used the default, the monitor gone blank. I rebooted and tried the second
line, 'grml debug' something, I got "Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted
to kill init!

Re: [Grml] grml and mactel

2009-03-01 Thread Chaitat Piriyastit
Hi OJ,

I have just made a fresh installation and it can be booted from PC.
What I did are:

* boot grml live cd from macmini
* plug usb flash drive into macmini
* grml2hd into that flash drive
* on the very last installation process, i select to install lilo on mbr
* i shutdown macmini
* i plug that flash drive into my pc
* i can boot grml from that flash drive on my pc properly

However, when I tried on macmini, it shows the same error message I provided
you before.

Thanks,

I will use grml2hd to do a fresh install to my usb drive through my macmini
and then I will boot this usb drive from a PC.

I booted grml from the live cd on macmini. I plugged an 8GB usb flash drive
into the macmini. I used grml2hd to install onto my flash drive.

I then rebooted macmini while the flash was plugged. Refit saw my flash drive

was something like cannot find OS to be loaded.

Sweet.

Yeah, very nice.

Why? How do you come to this conclusion? What is not running?

Can you boot anything else than Mac OSX from refit? Have you tried a
GRML live cd?

I thought your USB device was shown in rEFIt?

Hi,

I am trying to:

* install grml on a flash drive (usb) using grml2hd
* my computer is MacMIni (Intel)
* i install RefIt which shows me options to boot from my flash drive

However, it seems like I need to do something about EFI. Do you have any
idea about making the flash bootable
by EFI (not BIOS)?

Thanks,

Re: [Grml] awesome problem

2008-12-30 Thread Chaitat Piriyastit
Thanks, Mika.

How can I reinstall the packages I missed? The packages that exist in the
grml image.

Right now, as I have to install alpine, I have already downloaded around 4
debian packages, installed and then I can install alpine (.deb). alpine
requires some installed libraries. These lib exists in the live cd
version. However, with grml2hd installed on my flash drive, they are not
there. I think I might miss something. Those library might exist in the
server version that I might skip.

[Grml] how to disable antialias font in x window

Hi,

I have tried several things such as:

$ rxvt -fn
'xft:antialias=false,-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-12-140-*-*-c-*-iso8859-15'

or create:

/etc/fonts/local.conf and place:

false

inside the file.

It still does not work.

Is there other workaround?

[Grml] awesome problem

2008-12-09 Thread Chaitat Piriyastit
Hi friends,

I am using GRML 1.1 Linux that comes with AWESOME 2.2-rc1 (Digital Love).

It is awesome except that I am having a small problem.

Whenever I change the focus to another window, I have to press "enter"
before I can actually do anything with that window. But sometimes, I don't
have to.

Do you have any idea?

I have also tried the latest version and the problem still exists. I think
it is a bug in the version of awesome that has been integrated with grml.

[Grml] problem with GRMLCFG (label of a disk), config files in grml's home directory and rsync

2008-11-29 Thread Chaitat Piriyastit
Hi friends,

I am using grml 1.1 in Parallel Desktop under MacOSX. Everything looks good
except that I have a small problem.

Here are the steps to produce:

* ALT+F4
* grml $ grml-x fvwm
* In fvwm: I started FireFox, Dillo, and etc
* exit fvwm
* ALT+F1
* # save-config -all
* # mount /dev/hda /mnt/GRMLCFG
* # mv config.tbz /mnt/GRMLCFG
* # reboot

After rebooted, it shows me this error:

--

These directories are the directories created by grml user before the reboot
time.

It seems to me that whatever config files inside grml's home directory has
been modified, after save-config and placed it in GRMLCFG disk, then
rebooted, these error will come.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Chaitat Piriyasatit
