Bug description:
  [Impact]

  - Ubuntu  14.04, 16.04, 16.10, and 17.04

  Nagios goes down everyday at midnight with livestatus enabled and
  downtime configured.

  Here are bug reports in other trackers:
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1083003
  http://tracker.nagios.org/view.php?id=516
  http://tracker.nagios.org/view.php?id=455

  People say this patch helps:

http://git.mathias-kettner.de/git/?p=omd.git;a=blob;f=packages/nagios/patches/0007-fix_downtime_struct.dif;h=af0e245b585e78c372a69d10c5e3b47ab64ad510;hb=HEAD

  [Test Case]

  * Enable check-mk-livestatus plugin (add
  broker_module=/usr/lib/check_mk/livestatus.o
  /var/lib/nagios3/livestatus/socket to nagios3/nagios.cfg)

  * Wait for log rotation (or update log_rotation_method in
  nagios3/nagios.cfg to rotate hourly so it happens more often)

  * Without the fix, nagios segfaults, entry in
  /var/log/nagios3/nagios.log as follows:

  | [1486857600] Caught SIGSEGV, shutting down...

  * With the fix, nagios logrotation succeeds and rotated logs present
  in /var/log/nagios3/archives.

  [Regression Potential]

  Nagios will continue to segfault during logrotation.

  [Other Info]

  check-mk ships out a different version of nagios/downtime.h which
  differs from nagios3's downtime.h (defined struct
  scheduled_downtime_struct differs between the two).

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  A bug in the SANE Kodak driver can cause a SANE device scan to crash the
client that is using it (e.g. colord, simple-scan).

  [Test Case]
  1. Run a SANE client on a system that is failing Avahi scans (exact cause not
determined).

  Expected result:
  Client works without crashing.

  Observed result:
  Client crashes.

  [Regression Potential]
  Code fix could cause a change in behaviour of successful Avahi scans for
Kodak devices, though the fix matches the Avahi documentation for correct usage.

  Current documentation states that:

http://cloudinit.readthedocs.io/en/latest/topics/datasources/configdrive.html#version-2

  ... a config drive: ...Must be a un-partitioned block device (/dev/vdb,
  not /dev/vdb1)...

  This is not correct.

  1. Cloud-init actually, works with ConfigDrive as partition (e.g. /dev/sda1)
  2. Ironic uses partition at the end of disk to write metadata, and it's
absurd for baremetal provisioning to dedicate whole disk (actual SATA, SSD,
SAS/FC drive) just to tiny metada.
  3. According to @smoser at #cloud-init IRC, " i'm pretty sure the doc is just
wrong, ... i'm pretty sure reading current code that if the filesystem has a
label of 'config-2', then it will work".

  I think this part of documentation should be rewritten to avoid
  confusion with Ironic workflow for ConfigDrive.

Bug description:
  === Being SRU Template ===
  [Impact]
  Users of cloud-init can change passwords on a system by providing input
  to chpasswd as a string:
#cloud-config
chpasswd:
  list: |
user1:password1

  Confusingly, the 'list' is actually not a list, but a multi-line string.
  The change made in this bug supports either.

  [Test Case]
  # this launches 2 containers, one with list input and one with str
  # then at the end, the user should ssh in and verify they can log in
  # with the provided user and password.
  $ rel=zesty
  $ cat > chpass-str.yaml <<"EOF"
  #cloud-config
  ssh_pwauth: True
  users:
   - default
   - name: "user1"
   - name: "user2"
  chpasswd:
expire: False
list: |
   user1:password1
   user2:password2
  EOF

  $ cat > chpass-list.yaml <<"EOF"
  #cloud-config
  ssh_pwauth: True
  users:
   - default
   - name: "user1"
   - name: "user2"
  chpasswd:
expire: False
list:
 - user1:password1
 - user2:password2
  EOF

  $ ud_str="$(cat chpass-str.yaml)"
  $ ud_list="$(cat chpass-list.yaml)"
  $ pname=$(petname || echo foo-$rel)
  $ lxc launch ubuntu-daily:$rel $pname-str "--config=user.user-data=$ud_str"
  $ lxc launch ubuntu-daily:$rel $pname-list "--config=user.user-data=$ud_list"

  $ for name in $pname-str $pname-list; do
 lxc exec $name -- sh -c '
 while ! [ -e /run/cloud-init/result.json ]; do
echo -n .; sleep 1; done; echo;'; done

  $ lxc list "$pname.*"
  $ echo "Now ssh into $pname-str and $pname-list as user1 and user2."

  [Regression Potential]
  Very low regression potential. The test case shown provides both
  the previously supported path (a string) and the new path (a list).

  [Other Info]

  [Impact]
  This is a doc only change. The related doc is not even present
  in ubuntu binary packages.

  [Test Case]
  apt-get source cloud-init
  vi cloud-init*/cloudinit/config/cc_set_passwords.py

  [Regression Potential]
  None.

  [Other Info]
  Upstream commit:
   https://git.launchpad.net/cloud-init/commit/?id=5a0bee770f

  === End SRU Template ===

  example config in documentation is:
  ```
    chpasswd:
  list:
    - user1:password1
    - user2:Random
    - user3:password3
    - user4:R
  ```
  but cc_set_passwords fails with config above (LP#1665694)

  Actually testcase for the module uses multiline string
https://git.launchpad.net/cloud-init/tree/tests/cloud_tests/configs/modules/set_password_list.yaml#n21
  and therefore documentation should contain:
  ```
    chpasswd:
  list: |
    tom:mypassword123!
    dick:R
    harry:Random
Mar 04 18:03:01 localhost.localdomain cloud-init[901]: ValueError:
  Adding '8.8.8.8' would go beyond the '3' maximum name servers
  While that is a legitimate complaint, raising an exception seems like
  the wrong response, because this results in *no* nameserver
  configuration, which can have a substantial operational impact on the
  system.  Cloud-init should probably just log a warning in this case,
  and ignore any nameservers received after the first three.
Bug description:
  After upgrading my machine to Ubuntu 16.04, I noticed that 'git clone'
  started creating files with wrong mode (0700 instead of 0644
  typically) on NFSv4 partitions mounted from our NetApp servers.
  I've first tracked this down to the fact that git uses
   open(name, O_RDWR|O_CREAT|O_EXCL, 0666);
  to create files. If O_EXCL is not present, the files are created
  normally.
  I've tried various kernels from Ubuntu and the problems appeared
  between their 4.2.0-42-generic kernel-image (as found on willy) and
  the 4.4.0 kernels found on xenial. I tried building 4.9 from
  kernel.org and the problem is also there.
  I've then bisected the kernel to figure out that this is caused by the
  following commit:
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=5334c5bdac926c5f8d89729beccb46fe88eda9e7
  ie NFS: Send attributes in OPEN request for NFS4_CREATE_EXCLUSIVE4_1
  Our NetApp filers are running:
  NetApp Release 8.2.3P3 7-Mode: Tue Apr 28 14:48:22 PDT 2015
[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1679252] Re: Cloud images for non-Intel architectures are configured with security repos that don't work
2017-04-04 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Dan, or anyone else affected,
Accepted livecd-rootfs into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-
rootfs/2.408.10 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
Please help us by testing this new package.  See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.
If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed.  In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.
Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!
  Cloud images for non-Intel architectures are configured with security
  repos that don't work
Status in livecd-rootfs package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in livecd-rootfs source package in Xenial:
  Fix Committed
Bug description:
  [Impact]
  Users who don't get a fresh sources.list written out on first boot
  (e.g. Docker users) can't install updates from xenial-security on non-
  Intel architectures.
  [Test Case]
  Run an ubuntu-cpc livefs build for a non-Intel architecture, unpack
  one of the produced root tarballs, chroot in to it and perform an
  `apt-get update`.  You should see no errors.
  [Regression Potential]
  This change modifies the sources that apt will use for updates, so the
  biggest risk for regression is that the fix is malformed and systems
  become un-updateable (either partially or fully).  The test above
  should catch this.
  [Original Report]
  In the fix for bug 1513529, we[0] modified livecd-rootfs to write out
  a sources.list that matches the sources.list in Ubuntu Server
  installed from an ISO.  We (presumably) compared to an Intel
  installation, and hard-coded security.ubuntu.com as a repo in
  sources.list.
  Unfortunately, packages for non-Intel architectures aren't published
  to security.ubuntu.com; they are instead published at
  http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/.  That should be the URL that we
  configure as the source for $SUITE-security.
  [0] Well, *ahem*, _I_.
Bug description:
  [Impact]
  Default socket path for MySQL switched from /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock to
/tmp/mysqld.sock which is not the path that any of the MySQL family in Ubuntu
actually listens on; workaround via configuration file but needs fixing.
  [Test Case]
  sudo apt install percona-xtrabackup mariadb-server
  sudo mkdir -p /srv/backup
  sudo xtrabackup --backup --target-dir=/srv/backup
  Backup fails to connect to mysql with the error in the original bug
  report
  [Regression Potential]
  Limited; we missed this and two other compilation flag changes during the
original update - the proposed updates re-sync the Ubuntu packaging with the
upstream packaging in terms of compilation flags and value.
  [Original Bug Report]
  percona-xtrabackup was upgraded from 2.2.3-2.1build1.1 to
2.3.7-0ubuntu0.16.04.1.
  It appears that MySQL default socket file path has changed in the new
  version.
  After the update my backups started failing with the following:
  170402 06:30:04 Connecting to MySQL server host: localhost, user: root,
password: not set, port: not set, socket: not set
  Failed to connect to MySQL server: Can't connect to local MySQL server
  SRU Request:
  [Impact]
  The patch for Linux 4.9 in nvidia-340 in Ubuntu 16.04 does not match the one
in 17.04. As a result, the module fails to build against the hwe 4.10 kernel.
  [Test Case]
  1) Enable the xenial-proposed repository, and install
linux-headers-generic-hwe-16.04-edge, linux-image-generic-hwe-16.04-edge, and
nvidia-340.
  2) Check that DKMS builds the module, then restart the system, and see
  if it boots correctly. If unsure, please attach your /var/log/gpu-
  manager.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log
  [Regression Potential]
  Low, the exact same patch is already available in the package in 17.04.
Bug description:
  Filing on behalf of Claire Newman...
  I seem to be tickling a bug in the i915 stack, when I use a desktop
  monitor. The symptom is that the screen blanks for a few seconds then
  comes back . This happens every few minutes.  I am using a Lenovo
  Thinkpad T460s (new this weekend) but last week I was using a Thinkpad
  W550s - same issue with the blank screen on both laptops.  Happens
  every 20 mins or so and there is no identifiable reproducer (eg. I cam
  just be sitting there doing something else on my phone and the screen
  goes black).
  Here is lspci output for the video card:
  00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Sky Lake Integrated
Graphics (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
  Subsystem: Lenovo Skylake Integrated Graphics
  And in dmesg I see the below text:
