[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1736804] Re: No tcp_keepalive_time in LXD container
The reporter states in the linuxcontainers.org discussion and in this bug description that he's not using an Ubuntu kernel. This is fixed in Ubuntu 18.04 and will soon be available in Ubuntu 16.04 via the hardware enablement kernel. I'm marking this Xenial task as Won't Fix in regards to its 4.4 kernel. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: Incomplete => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of नेपाली भाषा समायोजकहरुको समूह, which is subscribed to Xenial. [Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1779963] Re: create pull-ppa-* functionality
@mapreri I'll see if I can get around to it one of these days, the delta certainly is getting big between my fork and the 'official' git. As you know, after over a year of bugging/begging people to review/merge my changes, I gave up and forked so I could actually keep adding functionality and fixing bugs in ubuntu-dev-tools. Meanwhile, pull-ppa-* now auto-detects the 'latest' release/series that a package is built for (in a PPA) so it doesn't always assume all PPAs have builds for the latest devel release. https://launchpad.net/~ddstreet/+archive/ubuntu/ubuntu-dev-tools ** Changed in: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: In Progress => Fix Released ** Changed in: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu Cosmic) Status: In Progress => Fix Released ** Changed in: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: In Progress => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of नेपाली भाषा समायोजकहरुको समूह, which is subscribed to Xenial. [Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1780227] Re: locking sockets broken due to missing AppArmor socket mediation patches
Per discussion above: - Closing the kernel tasks - Raising priority on apparmor tasks to Critical (to match what kernel had) - Assigning to jjohansen as the AppArmor maintainer As we care about xenial, bionic and cosmic, we need point releases (or cherry-pick) for: - AppArmor 2.10 (2.10.95 in xenial) - AppArmor 2.12 (2.12 in bionic and cosmic) John: Any ETA for those two point releases or pointer to a commit which we could SRU on its own? For now our focus is obviously on getting this resolved in Ubuntu as soon as possible, since it's breaking a number of systemd services that are now (18.04) shipping with more confinement than in the past. The same issue is also currently preventing us from starting newer Fedora and Arch containers on Ubuntu. Our standard response so far has been to tell users to turn off AppArmor for those containers, but it's obviously not an answer we like to give (I'm sure you'll agree). ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Invalid ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: Triaged => Invalid ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Triaged => Invalid ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical => Undecided ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: High => Undecided ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: High => Undecided ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => John Johansen (jjohansen) ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => John Johansen (jjohansen) ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Bionic) Assignee: (unassigned) => John Johansen (jjohansen) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of नेपाली भाषा समायोजकहरुको समूह, which is subscribed to Xenial. The code that attempts to reread the parent block is unsafe because it assumes that the local xfs_da_node_entry pointer remains valid after an xfs_trans_brelse() and re-read of the parent buffer. Under heavy memory pressure, it is possible that the buffer has been reclaimed and reallocated by the time the parent block is reread. This means that 'btree' can point to an invalid memory address, lead to a random/garbage value for child_fsb and cause the subsequent read of the attr fork to go off the rails and return a NULL buffer for an attr fork offset that is most likely not allocated. Note that this problem can be manufactured by setting XFS_ATTR_BTREE_REF to 0 to prevent LRU caching of attr buffers, creating a file with a multi-level attr fork and removing it to trigger inactivation. To address this problem, reinit the node/btree pointers to the parent buffer after it has been re-read. This ensures btree points to a valid record and allows the walk to proceed. [Test] The patch has been tested on the production system. [Regression Risk] Clean cherry-pick queued for stable, so we'll be picking it up anyway. This drains lots of power (~3W). The tested laptop uses 5.5W when r8169 is in D0, 1.8W when r8169 is in D3. The power saved is substantial. [Fix] Improved rumtime PM logic to let the device gets suspended (D3) when the port is not in used and the link is down. [Test Case] The chip version is 8168h/8111h. Test when no ethernet gets plugged. Powertop shows power consumption is roughly 5.5W. lspci shows the device is in D0. With the patch, The power consumption is reduced to 1.8W. lspci shows the device is in D3, PME# is correctly enabled. Plug ethernet cable can corretly wake up the device. Unplug the cable, the device gets suspended to D3 correctly. [Regression Potential] Medium. - r8169 is so ubiquitous, with lots of different chip versions. It's hard to test all of them. - PCI D3 needs system firmware (ACPI) support, this might hit some plaform bugs. - the code is still in v4.16-rc*, so it's not well tested by end users. [Test Case] Install linux-azure >= 4.15.0-1014, install lttng-modules-dkms and run the autotest ubuntu_lttng_smoke_test testcase (or just 'sudo lttng list --kernel').
