  [Test Cases]
  This is manually tested by Amazon:

  0) Deploy an Amazon AWS instance with Instance Connect feature enabled
  1) Install the ec2-instance-connect package
  2) Verify that the sshd process has been restarted with the changed
command-line, now including "AuthorizedKeysCommand*" options.
  3) Attempt to connect to the instance using a SSH key that is known by the
Instance Connect service.

  [Regression Potential]
  Limited to SSH access on instances where the package gets installed. This is
a brand new package for a new service provided to AWS customers. In the case of
an issue, things to watch out for would be for some keys to not be usable to
connect to the instance when they are expected to be, as the list of authorized
keys is collated by the service to include both the usual authorized_keys
contents, as well as keys provided by the Instance Connect service.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  Currently for custom kernels, it's necessary to keep a separate
  annotations file that often gets out of sync with the corresponding
  file in debian.master/.

  The "debian/scripts/config-check" script can be changed to allow
  additional annotations files to act as overlays over the original
  annotations file, allowing custom kernels to override the policies
  just for the relevant configs.

  The proposal is to add support for an include directive in the
  annotations file so custom kernels can include the annotations file
  from its base kernel and override policies on a config basis.

  [Test Case]

  A kernel build should complete successfully after the change.

  [Regression Potential]

  Low regression potential since that's a change on the build process
  that doesn't affect the final kernel that is built.

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1824474] Re: Is Vcs-Git line correct?

2019-07-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package linux-meta-raspi2 - 5.0.0.1012.9

Bug description:
  Impact:

  apt-get source suggets the wrong instructions when inquiring for
  linux-meta-raspi2:

  $ apt-get source linux-meta-raspi2
  ...
  NOTICE: 'linux-meta-raspi2' packaging is maintained in the 'Git' version

  Please use:
  git clone
git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+git/cosmic
raspi2
  to retrieve the latest (possibly unreleased) updates to the package.

  which, if executed, result in a checkout of the master branch in a
  raspi2 subdirectory (instead of a checkout of the raspi2 branch).

  Fix:

  Fix the Vcs-Git line in linux-meta-raspi2/debian/control.common.

  How to test:

  Check the output of `apt-get source linux-meta-raspi2`, a fixed
  version will suggest:

  ...
  git clone
git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+git/cosmic -b
raspi2
  ...

  Regression potential:

  Very low, trivial modification.

  --

  The control file for the latest version of this package contains:

  Vcs-Git: git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-
  meta/+git/disco raspi2

  This cauases `apt-get source` to suggest:

  NOTICE: 'linux-meta-raspi2' packaging is maintained in the 'Git' version
control system at:
  git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+git/cosmic
raspi2

  git clone
git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+git/cosmic
raspi2
  to retrieve the latest (possibly unreleased) updates to the package.

  ...which checks out the sources to the raspi2 subdirectory, instead of
  checking out the raspi2 branch. Is this supposed to be "-b raspi2"
  instead?

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1771858] Re: /snap/bin not in default PATH for units, snapd should ship system-environment-generators to inject /snap/bin into $PATH

The fix for Xenial does not depend on snapd's environment generator, just
hardcodes including /snap/bin in the PATH.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * This means that software installed via snap isn't transparently
  available for units to use. As snaps are first-class citizens in
  Ubuntu, we should update the PATH.

   * When a generator started to be provided by systemd, it was
  recognized that $PATH is not correctly set, nonetheless, due to an
  environment bug that systemd generators run in.

  [Testcase]

  # make snapd-env-generator executable if it is not
  $ sudo chmod +x
/usr/lib/systemd/system-environment-generators/snapd-env-generator

  # reboot, then test the effect of the fix
  $ systemd-run /usr/bin/env
  $ journalctl -e | grep PATH

  Output should contain /snap/bin

  Output should contain a complete and a valid PATH, i.e.
  PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/snap/bin"
or similar.

  [Regression Potential]

   * snapd generator was already fixed separately to cause no harm, when
  running under a broken systemd. With the corrected environment,
  generators will now run with a correct PATH out of the box. A slight
  change of PATH will be observed by all generators, when running in
  containers/initramfs-less boots. However most generators will not be
  affected as they typically do not execute external binaries.

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1831748] Re: Update /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default with php-fpm 7.2

2019-07-02 Thread Thomas Ward
This configuration that is referred to in the duplicate now linked here
is a Debian and Ubuntu specific configuration option in the **example**
default config. While it may not match with the CURRENT PHP paths it is
designed as an example rather than a "quickly enable this feature"
mechanism. This issue is specific to the NGINX configuration in Debian
and Ubuntu and should only be tracked on those relevant bug trackers and
not the NGINX upstream project (as I indicated on the nginx-devel list
last week).

** Also affects: nginx
   Importance: Undecided

Bug description:
  After install Nginx creates a file called /etc/nginx/sites-
  enabled/default which is a link to /etc/nginx/sites-available/default

  A line inside is commented for use in PHP-FPM (7.0):

   #location ~ \.php$ {
  #   include snippets/fastcgi-php.conf;
  #
  # # With php-fpm (or other unix sockets):
  #   fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php/php7.0-fpm.sock;
  # # With php-cgi (or other tcp sockets):
  #   fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000;
  #}

  The php-fpm line should read:
  #   fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php/php7.2-fpm.sock;

  as Ubuntu 18.04 uses PHP 7.2 not Debians PHP 7.0

  A simple problem but a confusion I've noticed come up more than once.
