Bug description:
The recent CVE fix broke SCP support in libssh, which X2Go Client
  (x2goclient) relies on.

Sessions now fail with error messages such as "SCP: Warning: status
code 1 received: scp: ~username/.x2go/ssh: No such file or
directory\n". (Also note the literal "\n" there, but I guess we don't
really need to care about that.)

The previous version worked fine and rolling the libssh4 package back
fixes this issue, but also leaves users vulnerable to the fixed
security issue in its scp implementation.

I've been looking at the debdiff, but spotting the actual changes is very
difficult due to the reformatting that was done at the same time. This degraded
the patch(es) into one big blob.

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1856795] Re: X2Go Client broken by 0.8.0~20170825.94fa1e38-1ubuntu0.5

2019-12-21 Thread Graham Inggs
Fixed in focal:

x2goclient (4.1.2.1-4) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches:
+ Add libssh-regression-fix-CVE-2019-14889.patch. In src/sshprocess.cpp:
  strip ~/, ~user{,/}, ${HOME}{,/} and $HOME{,/} from destination paths
in scp mode. Fixes: #1428. This was already necessary for pascp (PuTTY-
based Windows solution for Kerberos support), but newer libssh versions
with the CVE-2019-14889 also interpret paths as literal strings.
  (Closes: #947129).

   * New architecture support in xenial where the current version has FTBS
e.g.; armhf, s390x

   * exploratory testing of patchelf.

  [Regression Potential]

   * Minimal possibility of patching to break on obscure binaries
   * 0.9-1 has already been available on artful and bionic with no bugs reported
   * No deb dependes on patchelf, snapcraft installs patchelf during runtime
during runtime due to the FTBS. This would change that.

RSS feed to get news, but lately, there have been very few. Recently,
I discovered the lubuntu.me website. It seems more active and the blog
is up to date on news. There is no indication on either that they are
not official, but on the bottom of both, there seems to be information
pointing towards both being owned by individuals, not by the Lubuntu

any. Would it not be less confusing for users to have one website and

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * NOAA changed the URL for the service metar relies on to retrieve weather
information
   * This has been fixed in 20061030.1-2.2 that is in YY and ZZ (LP: #1610210)
but not yet in XX (16.04 LTS) and previous releases
   * justification: the metar program will not display any weather information
anymore without the fix (complete functionality loss for users)
   * remedy: update URL in the source (it is hardcoded)
(a work-around is to set the environment variable to the new URL
  METARURL=http://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/stations)

  [Test Case]

   * install metar # 20061030.1-2ubuntu2
   * metar FACT # metar information for Cape Town Airport (CPT)
-> METAR pattern not found in NOAA data
(correct would be something like: FACT 251000Z 18020KT CAVOK 22/13 Q1017
NOSIG)

  [Regression Potential]

   * just a hardcoded URL fix, no program change otherwise
   * works in Debian sid & testing, Ubuntu YY and ZZ

  [Other Info]

The upstream bug report is here:

  https://cmake.org/Bug/view.php?id=16049

and was later moved to here:

  https://gitlab.kitware.com/cmake/cmake/issues/16049

It was fixed by Brad King in

https://gitlab.kitware.com/ben.boeckel/cmake/commit/f6c5958047ee8a9084bf230a6c1acb4801cb2b93

and the fix is in CMake 3.5.2.

I would like to ask what is best: Should I should prepare a debdiff
adding this patch to the 3.5.1 package in Xenial and request an SRU?
Or is it reasonable to update the Xenial package to 3.5.2 (which is in
  Yakkety) outright?

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1585928] Re: [SRU] llvm-defaults 0.33ubuntu4 [was: lldb package does not provide a lldb-server symlink to the current default version]

Title:
[SRU] llvm-defaults 0.33ubuntu4 [was: lldb package does not provide a
lldb-server symlink to the current default version]

Status in llvm-defaults package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in llvm-defaults source package in Xenial:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * The lldb package in xenial provides a unversioned symlink only for
the lldb-3.8 executable from the lldb-3.8 package, but not for the
  lldb-server-3.8, lldb-argdumper-3.8 and lldb-mi-3.8 binaries

  * It breaks lldb's ability to run an executable inside the debugger

  * It breaks user expectation as the other three binaries cannot be
  invoked by the unversioned name

  [Test Case]

   * Start a debugging session for any application with `lldb

  * On the lldb prompt enter `run`

  * Expected result: The application is run inside the debugger
  * Actual result: The debugger cannot launch the application, because it
cannot find the `lldb-server` component of lldb

  [Regression Potential]

   * None, the bugfix adds unversioned symlinks for the rest of the
executables from the lldb-3.8 package, which were missing before. It
should not affect the behaviour of any other application on the
  system.

  [Other Info]

   * This is a very simple patch by just adding three more symlinks in the
packaging.

  [Original Bug Description]

The lldb package provides a symlink to the current default version of
lldb, so that the command lldb works as an alias to the real
  executable lldb-3.8.

Please also provide a similar symlink for the lldb-server executable.
The current lldb-3.8 package already provides the executable with the
  name lldb-server-3.8.

Status in oce package in Debian:

Bug description:
  System: Xenial (16.04)
  Package: liboce-visualization-dev (0.17.1-1)

liboce-visualization-dev provides CMake files, to be able to CMake-
  build an application using OCE.

  The /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/oce-0.16/OCE04_VisualizationTargets-
relwithdebinfo.cmake file contains this section :

  # Import target "TKService" for configuration "RelWithDebInfo"
  set_property(TARGET TKService APPEND PROPERTY IMPORTED_CONFIGURATIONS
RELWITHDEBINFO)
  set_target_properties(TKService PROPERTIES
    IMPORTED_LINK_INTERFACE_LIBRARIES_RELWITHDEBINFO
"TKMath;TKernel;TKBRep;TKShHealing;TKGeomBase;TKGeomAlgo;TKG2d;TKG3d;TKTopAlgo;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXext.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLU.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLU.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreetype.so;/usr/lib/libfreeimage.so"
    IMPORTED_LOCATION_RELWITHDEBINFO
"${_IMPORT_PREFIX}/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libTKService.so.10.0.0"
    IMPORTED_SONAME_RELWITHDEBINFO "libTKService.so.10"
    )

The "freeimage" library path is wrong on 64bit, according to "dpkg -L
libfreeimage-dev" :
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreeimage.so
  not
/usr/lib/libfreeimage.so as written in liboce-visualization-dev's CMake file.

This bug prevents from building correctly applications that depends on
  liboce-visualization-dev using CMake.

Tested: Fixing this path fixes build.

+ Remove linux-firmware-nonfree from the install options.

   -- Martin Wimpress Wed, 20 Apr 2016 22:00:55

  [Impact]

   * Ubuntu MATE Welcome has a post installation assistant that guide
the user through updating software and installing drivers. The
"Install Firmware" feature currently includes `linux-firmware-nonfree`
in its package list. linux-firmware-non-free was recently removed from
the Xenial archive (LP: #1513589) therefore this feature now fails.

   * This updated version of Ubuntu MATE Welcome makes one small change,
it removes linux-firmware-nonfree from the install options such that
  the "Install Firmware" feature works.

  [Test Case]

   * Install Ubuntu MATE 16.04. When Welcome is displayed after login
click Getting Started -> Drivers -> Install Firmware Package. Enter
your password when prompted, should after you'll be notified that the
  firmware install failed.

   * Once Ubuntu MATE Welcome 16.04.10 is installed the above steps will
  complete successfully.

  [Regression Potential]

   * None.
