Re: The list?

2000-11-16 Thread Dave Biasotti

Yeah Roger, you missed the big crash.
Mike couldn't get ahold of the the list admin, so he restarted everyone
on a new list server - Egroups.
Now Electro list is back up and we are trying to decide to stay or go
back.
See this message from earlier today.

Hey all,

I finally heard back from the administrator of the elektro gts list. He
was away in europe when a disk failed in the server. He is repairing
the
server and will have it back in a day or so.

He is designing the box so that it will not die again due to a single
disk
failure and he is designating some local administrators to fix the
server
should it fail while he is traveling again.

So, I put it to you, do we keep the egroups list or go back to the
elektro
list.

We need to come to a consensus soon.

Take care,
Mike

The list?

Did I miss something? Has the list been down, or have I been unsubbed? I
haven't received any posts for over a week.

Wouldn't you know ...

2000-11-16 Thread Charlie Smith

I guess that's the way Murphy sneaks up on you. I've been in the UK for
the last two weeks ... and just a few days after I left - the disk with
the list server control files took it's own trip south.

The subscriber's file is digressed back to about the middle of May. I'd
appreciate if the collective memory (ravi? Mike?) can tell me who has been
subscribed since then - and either Ravi, Mike, or I will add then back into
the list.

In the near future, everything on this system is going to be mirrored
so this type of exercise shouldn't happen again. Ha! That's what he said.
