I apologize in advance if this is not the mailing list I should be posting queries like this but I have nobody to travel with and right now the routes from Prague to Brno seem a little complicated to me and it would help if I had someone to travel with. I think that's what they do at hotels, hence the query. This is *not* normally the case. Usually, passports are just borrowed to write down the details and then returned to you immediately. Thanks. I made a step by step page on getting from airport to brno as per my understanding here: http://sindhus.bitbucket.org/pages/prague-brno-resource.html Is all the info there correct? Some info that I don't know for sure are marked with (?) or asked with a question. Please let me know if you have answers to it :) Note: The page written in a way that my parents can track my movements with links that will be helpful to them :) Since they cant reach me on phone. Because I dont have a mobile phone which work in Czech...is there a facility of making ISD calls in Prague or Brno? perhaps a phone booth or calling cards I can buy and use on a pay phone? 2. So far as I can see student agency bus has wifi but can some one confirm me that from personal experience? This more of a note: I have given numbers of Taufer Dormitory and Brno University of Technology to my parents so that they have a way to reach me. Just so you know :) Thank for helping me out with this! -Sindhu On Sun, Jul 28, 2013 at 11:00 PM, Rui Tiago Cação Matos tiagoma...@gmail.com wrote: On 28 July 2013 19:28, Rui Tiago Cação Matos tiagoma...@gmail.com wrote: You need to get tram 12 in the Kralovo Pole direction and get out at Sorry, I should have said in the Technologicky Park direction. ___ guadec-list mailing list guadec-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/guadec-list ___ guadec-list mailing list guadec-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/guadec-list

Normally hotels only take a photo copy here. I'd be highly surprised (and would protest if they tried to keep it), as I need to be able to identify myself also in other places. :) andre -- Andre Klapper | ak...@gmx.net http://blogs.gnome.org/aklapper/ ___ guadec-list mailing list guadec-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/guadec-list

Some small comments: wrt Step 1: If you have a connection flight in the Schengen area (e.g. from Frankfurt or Amsterdam to Prague) you will likely have the passport/visa check already in Frankfurt or Amsterdam, and likely will not be checked again when arriving in Prague. wrt Step2: When using an ATM cash machine I recommend to withdraw an amount that is not one large bill that most shop assistants will grumpily refuse. For example, don't withdraw 2000CZK as you might receive one big bill. Withdraw something like 2200 or 1800 instead. The smallest bill is 100CZK (Czech crowns) which is 4EUR. You could get change by buying something simply like a bottle of water (there are shops in the airport - it will be slightly overpriced as in every airport, but not a complete rip-off or such). wrt Step 3: Prague Airport definitely has free wifi (for 15 minutes, then you need to reconnect). wrt Step 3 (the second one): Information on StudentAgency stop, map, GPS coordinates: http://jizdenky.studentagency.cz/en/boarding-places/17552003.html wrt Step 4: You might need to switch the StudentAgency bus at Florenc central bus station in Prague. wrt Step 6: Public transportation tickets in Brno: See https://www.guadec.org/travel/#brno for potential ticket types and price. You can buy tickets both at machines and at the driver's (though I would not expect the driver to speak English), and a single-way ticket will be definitely less than 50CZK. If you are unsure I'd recommend to just ask Tererova to the driver when entering the tram, which is the name of the stop where you want to get off. In most trams and busses, the name of the next step is shown on a display and/or is announced via loudspeakers. wrt Troubleshooting: If luggage is lost, there is an info desk in every airport terminal where you file out a form, describe how your luggage looks like, and provide them with contact information info. Your luggage will be delivered to that address once it's been located and identified. andre -- Andre Klapper | ak...@gmx.net http://blogs.gnome.org/aklapper/ ___ guadec-list mailing list guadec-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/guadec-list
