Re: [h-cost] Yellow power tie?
Kate, I graduated college in 84 recall being a bit amused amazed that all the office guys were wearing pink. Yup. Pink shirt or pink shirt white collar cuffs. Either way, accessorize with a pinker tie. Med grey suit. I'm remembering Wash DC/ Beltway Bandit office wear. Straight guys, sales guys, IT guys, corner office guys all of 'em in pink. After that, moved to Silicon Valley where most arent sure what a tie is. As for your show, pink might give a different msg given the AIDS crisis context of the show. --cin Cynthia Barnes cinbar...@gmail.com Subject: I realize it's now passe, but I'm doing a production of Angels in America that takes place in 1985-86. Right now nothing, as I'm in the process of reworking the sewing room, but the wicker lady hanging from the ceiling has on a 1889 black silk Belgian corset. As soon as I get rework done (last set of shelves to be made tomorrow!) I have 2 17th cen. petticoats to have done before the first of March. Re: [h-cost] What's your dressmaker's dummy wearing?
I finally got my new effigy corset (based on the info from Arnold's article in Costume) on my dress dummy. No photos of it on there yet, as my batteries died and are recharging. But here's the dress diary, if anyone is interested. http://kimikosews.livejournal.com/tag/effigy+bodies There are some progress pics there. Next up is either the French farthingale, or the gown bodice so I can start in on the cording and spangles embellishments... not sure which yet. The various hangers have a couple of Folkwear Egyptian shirts made floor length, and a basic tunic with a Grecian feel, both for Costume Con in May.
