an 1895-ish ball gown as shown in L'Art et la Mode. No. 12, by Marie
de Solar (artist).
Designed by Miss Augustine Leriche (something something) Folies-
Dramatiques. (pardon my French!)
The gown is in Pensive Violet (deep purple), and according to them
Empire style, though not what we could call Empire. The bodice is
fitted and deeply scooped.The front of the skirt is in pale green
satin, with Parma violets embroidered down the front. The bodice, and
sides and back of the skirt are in the velvet, embroidered in pearls
and crystal. Train falls in heavy folds of velvet. Short sleeves are
gathered in heavy folded puffs.
The sewing, I could do. I'm not willing to embroider to get it :)
