I've put the ones off my machine (running kernel 2.6.30 - but I doubt
 that matters). Try them.

Thanks Alan, I have copied them to the location Debian expects to find
them and will try booting later.

Not sure. Country is set to UK in KDE control centre. What
confuses me is that if charset/country is a problem, then
I'd expect to get a different special symbol, rather than a 3.

Is there a way to display X11 keyboard events, or some other
way to monitor what the system (at various levels) thinks
is being sent by the keyboard?

It does. I can see that X11 is receiving the right state (shift)
and keycode, but the keysym is wrong (when compared to what I get
when the 2 and 4 keys are pressed).

Time for some googling...

Thanks.

Not sure which chipset it is - could be Prism2, in which case you
_may_ be able to switch to the hostap driver - which also isnt ideal.
The other option is to use ndiswrapper with a windows driver, which
again, is less than perfect. Last option is get a new pcmcia/usb
network card to replace that one.

Just FYI I used to use hostap and WPA2 on a prism2 card (MA401) in
case that's useful info.

Even got a bug report to prove it:

Scuse the gmail-mobile top-post.

Isn't UK Unkranian? GB is normally what is needed. ISTR that with UK
set there are no cyrillics, and things almost work, but not enough to
get @ and others in the correct place.

It's actually set to United Kingdom, I just shortened
it to UK in my email :-)

 Hi,

 Summer greetings!

Our next meeting will take place on Saturday 04 July at Southampton, 10:00
 - 16:30. Details are on the wiki[0] and as before please email Damian in
advance if you plan to attend or need wireless network access.

If anyone would like to give a talk[1] at the meeting, please let me or any
committee member[2] know and we will add you to the list.

I am still awaiting books to review, so at the moment I have no more books
for review, and yes I've asked for everything you asked for... ;-)

 ###

We have spoken with Jamie's Computer club and they are happy for us to
visit them again[3]. To make it viable for them to open their doors to us
on a weekend we need to make sure enough people turn up and that we are
happy to have a look at what they have to sell - well actually buy stuff...

Do we as a group want to go to James?

When do we want to go?

I have looked at what jamies sell. Myself I find the computers they sell
overpriced. If I find this how many others find this?

A number of people who wanted to get rid of old computers have been told that
they must pay Jamies for the privilege of taking the computer of their hands.
The computers ended up being dumped in a landfill instead.

Obviously I am not up to date with what Jamies are doing now.

If people do not buy stuff at Jamies how does it effect the cost of meeting
there.

Their bits and bobs are very useful. Old cards, keyboards, cables etc. And I
have bought a printer there. Many of us buy there whenever we want something
a bit dated. I have always been very satisfied with what I have bought
from Jamie's; but I have never in fact bought a computer from them. They are
meeting a demand, even if it is not your demand.

I doubt that it will be a condition of entry that every individual buy
something, and I for one am happy to buy some bits and bobs to replenish my
stock. I might even be lucky and find a Microsoft Intellimouse.
