Re: [Hampshire] 3g Dongles

2010-05-21 Thread Stephen Davies
In defense of 3, their offer of £15.00 for 15Gb per month is pretty hard
to refuse. I'm using it with both OS/X & Fedora 13 Beta without issue. I
use it in the mornings on the train from Ash into Reading and apart from
the 'dead zone' south of Crowthorne, it is rock solid.
From my 6th floor office in the Centre of Reading it works better then
other 3g networks especially Vodafone. Probably less contention.
Yesterday, I downloaded 2.8Gb of software with no errors.

Coverage (As the TV adverts say) does vary according to your location.

[Hampshire] Library conversion job

2010-05-21 Thread Stephen Pelc
We have been asked to convert a C library from Linux to deep
embedded. The compiler is gcc, probably CodeSourcery, and the
target is ARM.

The job is for four/five weeks near Manchester. No, you can't do
it from home. Lots of NDAs will have to be signed as it is for
the payment industry. Knowledge of EMV Level 2 will be a
distinct advantage.

If you are interested, please contact me directly.

I'm using a Huawei E220 on 3 as well, which used to work pretty well.
However, on a fresh install of Lucid the modem isn't detected properly
(being detected as usb mass storage instead). A quick google turned up
this solution:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1473228&page=2

Which worked for me, after replacing with the idProduct for the E220.
Apparently some problem with usb-modeswitch. I saw some reports which
say the modem only works if it's plugged in before boot up, but that
wasn't so in my case.

Hope this helps for anyone else unfortunate enough to encounter this bug.

Cheers,
Kerwin
