Have you had the analogue switch off yet in your area?

In the NW we have had it switched off and bizarrely the signal strength of
digital has gone down since then. Presumably as was mentioned to
make room for the Freeview HD which BTW is ridiculously below 10mbps
 which means its standard def!?

According to the various maps I've seen the switch over isn't until 2012
where I am.

Oh yeah. Dunno where I got that idea from then?? Although I can get some
channels and yet I also get the strangely named channels on the same
frequencies as those for which I have working channels.

Does anyone know if it's possible that the aerial/cabling could be
causing this?

Darn, I meant its widely speculated that the drop in Freesat from 15
 to below 10
is to ensure freeview HD doesn't look poor in comparison.

When you compare picture output between Sky and Freeview, I think Sky is better.
Comparison:
BBC1 Freeview - BBC1 over Sky.

On Sky, BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 are not encrypted.
Strangely, FIVE is encrypted if you try to use a Sky box to receive
it, but with a DVB-S card in a computer, FIVE is unencrypted.
On further examination, it appears that FIVE transmit in both
encrypted and unencrypted formno idea why!!!

Essentially I've lost about half the channels. Although they don't seem

numerous re-scans I'm getting lines like the following in my channels.conf:
 [46c0]:52980:INVERSION_AUTO:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_16:TRANSMISSION_MODE_2K:GUARD_INTERVAL_1_32:HIERARCHY_NONE:0:433:18112

So there's a bizarre channel name and there doesn't seem to be a video
component. I've read somewhere that things may have changed recently in
preparation for HD - could this be related? Any insight would be
 appreciated.

 Leo

I had to retune my telly and also my Mythtv box's DVB-T card after they
both started reporting 'no signal'.

Since then, I can't get the 706MHz multiplex ('Mux 1') that includes BBC
1 on the Hannington transmitter. The other 5 muxes are OK. (I'm not
too stressed, because I get BBC 1 etc. via satellite.)

cheers
