Stephen, thank you for passing on this sad news.

He was an active member of the LUG for some time, and always offered advice 
freely. He will be missed.

Please pass our condolences on to Marisa.

That's very sad news indeed. Damian contributed to the LUG for many 
years and was a valued member. I remember him coming to visit me at 
Taunton's when I worked there to collect some old kit that we no longer 
needed, but he was keen to give a home!

I echo the condolences to Damian's family and friends, and am remembering when 
I last saw him - he gave me a lift to IBM Hursley from a railway station.  
Being kind.  Which seems to be most people's impression of him.

But I am also thinking of his work.  Will anyone continue DIASER?  I see the 
site has not been updated since last July.  When he got ill?  But it will be 
a sad memorial if DIASER dies.

I was surprised by how shocked I was by this news, despite not knowing him
well.

I met him in person only a few times, but my impression of him as a
thoroughly decent, helpful person was enhanced by his many responses to
posted questions.
