Re: [Hampshire] Kernel suspend problem with i915 module
Hi Al, Thanks for the advice. I had a pretty good look around but no sign of a duplicate. From what I can see the i915 has some mean issues which only pop up with certain hardware. I have a Dell laptop which resumes fine with the latest kernel and that uses i915 too. Yuk! Here's the bug I filed: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1272945 Now back to kernel 3.9.9 so I can use suspend! File a bug. ubuntu-bug linux Then report your findings so far. It's possible the bug may already have been reported. There seem to be some existing ones in this area both on launchpad and elsewhere. Ping us the bug number and I'll ask one of the kernel guys to take a look. [Hampshire] Kernel suspend problem with i915 module
Hi, I have a Toshiba Portege r200 which has stopped being able to resume from suspend in xubuntu. I went through the kernels at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ to find when it stopped working and got these results: 3.2 (12.04 precise) YES 3.6.3 (12.10 quantal) YES 3.9.0 (13.04 raring) YES 3.9.0 (13.10 saucy, 7.May.15) YES 3.9.5 (saucy, 7.Jun.13) YES 3.9.9 (saucy, 3.Jul.13) YES --- 3.10-rc1 (saucy, 13.May.13) NO 3.10.0 (saucy, 30.Jun.13) NO 3.11 (saucy) NO [current kernel] What is the best thing to do next? I'm not sure how to find what changed between the 3.9 and 3.10 kernels, especially as the dates on the kernels overlap such that 3.9.0 is closer to 3.10-rc1 than is 3.9.9. Kind of mucks up my binary chop! How do I go about filing the bug and/or asking for help finding/fixing it?
