than the past two mornings though.

531 JAPAN, Morioka JOQG, poor with JJ talk u/o 1XPI at 1345 9/23.
(PM-OR)

best JJ of the morning. (PM-OR)

Does Radio Tanzania nowadays have also English programs on this

[HCDX] Portable MW/SW receiver opinion needed !

2003-09-23 Thread J999w
I am in the market for a portable receiver with the following requirements:

- Must fit in backpack/daypack without breaking my back. I still need to be
able to ride my bicycle while carrying it.

- Must have good performance when connected to longwires/beverages without
undue overloading. (perhaps with loose coupling or preselector inline).

- Low battery consumption. Either internal or external.

- Have a functional S meter (meter or LEDs).

- Selectable AGC would be a plus. (or on/off)

- Digital readout would be a plus.

Something like the Icom R71a or Kenwood R1000 is on the large side. They will
fit in a backpack, but are on the heavy side. Perhaps Sony 2010 ?

I have some mini dxpeditions in mind and need to find a suitable receiver.

Thanks,

John Wilke

I am a few days behind with my logs as I was hit by a virus that clogged
up my mail box. The virus is known as an e-mail worm called: W32/[EMAIL PROTECTED]
with attachments galore!! I contacted Microsoft and they instructed me to
just Delete them of which I did. I had rcvd about 1500!!! of these emails in
just three days, thus mail to my mail box was being bounced as unable to
deliver. That is over now and my mail box is back to regular operations. So,
I hope I will be back to normal operations quickly. Good Listening and DX!!

Hope that none of you got any of those phony Microsoft Virus Patch
messages with an attachent assigned to each one. If you do Do Not Open the
attachment as that is where the virus is. Just delete them and notify
Microsoft.

RE: [HCDX] Portable MW/SW receiver opinion needed !

2003-09-23 Thread Guy Atkins
John,

For your purposes I'd recommend the Palstar R30. It's a great value for the
money and fits your requirements. If you don't mind a little more weight, a
higher quality receiver would be the AR7030.

Subject: [HCDX] Portable MW/SW receiver opinion needed !

They
will
fit in a backpack, but are on the heavy side. Perhaps Sony 2010 ?

I have some mini dxpeditions in mind and need to find a suitable receiver.

Thanks,
