[HCDX] Radio Vanuatu 7260 khz !!!

2003-11-26 Thread YvesPhoenix
Hi friends,

i have got a real good start into this new day i was looking out for
Radio Vanuatu this morning, thinking i will have no chance, but:

Wednesday, 26.11.2003

Radio Vanuatu, Emten Lagoon / VUT
06.50h - 07.10h UTC

SINPO: 06.50-07.05h UTC 2-3 / 3 / 3 / 2 / 1
From around 07.05 signal was fading away into very weak
Modulation was badly very weak - only the Id-Jingles with the flutes were
just good to hear.

06.50h - 07.00h UTC, singing by a man - sounding a little like arabic or
koran-singing
07.00h UTC Id-Jingle with flutes followed by news - possible in english ???,
read out by man
07.05h and 07.09h oncemore the Id-Jingle with the flutes

Well, hope this day bringing something more good Dx-stuff. good Dx

[HCDX] Forget the approach to WRTH, use INTERNET

...and, maybe some short-wave users do not have the internet, just a
battered old transistor portable - or is this just a romantic fantasy?

Uh... Oh... I use the Internet O.K., but I do use an old battered
valve receiver (Drake R4-c)... The problem is and will always be
that printed media is out of date right after printing, whether you
print lists from the Internet yourself, or someone prints WRTH or
PassportTWBR.

*** COMMENTS (DX TRIFECTA) ***

A DXpedition to Plymouth, MA on a cold rainy night (20 NOV) featured what seemed to be
auroral conditions, but very little Latin American or any other kind of useful DX.
Local DXer Steve Clang showed up and it was good to talk to him for a while. He's
gung-ho to log some new DX, now if only the ionosphere would cooperate !

On Friday, 21 NOV, about 8 of us gathered for the regular Boston Area DXers meeting in
Stoneham, MA. Phil Schoenheiter, N1PZU, a friend of mine since grade school days in
Arlington, MA, attended a BADX meeting for the second time.

Ray Arruda's DX get-together in Acushnet, MA on Saturday 22 NOV was a great time.
John Malicky drove all the way from Pittsburgh, about an 11 hour trip. He brought
literally thousands of photographs, many radio-related. Though DX conditions were
still naff as the Sheigra guys say, getting together with the crew of about 10 DXers
at Ray and Arlene's was fun. An excellent dinner at the nearby Cafe Roma capped off
the afternoon.
