[HCDX] Couple logs

2004-10-28 Thread Charles B
Suriname, 4990, Radio Apintie, 0923-1000 Noted a man in
Dutch comments over music. At 0925 a woman joins him
briefly with comments. Talk until 0955 when some music
present. Signal started to fade around 0950 from fair to
poor. (Chuck Bolland, October 28, 2004)

Peru, 5014.59, Radio Aultura, 1020-1038 General format of
Spanish comments from a man along with ADs and Promos
between musical selections. At 1029 ID's as "Radio
Aultura...) after a tune. Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland,

[HCDX] Unident on 15090

2004-10-28 Thread Charles B
Unident, 15090, From 1435-1500 noted a Spanish speaking
station with man and woman in comments. Checked all of my
sources, and some of others with no mention of this freq or
the broadcast. I also checked Radio Marti and Rebelde to
see if I might have a harmonic? This did not "Pan Out". At
1458 an ID presented. Naturally it faded during the
important part, but heard the word "Caracas mentioned. Also
heard "40", and "WA" as in a callsign. My gut feeling is
this is a relay via Cuba of the Venezuelian station and I am
hearing a spur. Signal was fair with fading to nil at times.

I reported recently in this same time period: HCJB mixing product between 15140
and 15115, both in Spanish. You should check one or both of those for parallel
audio. 73, Glenn

[HCDX] Israel - Radio Dor raided

2004-10-28 Thread Mike Terry
A landbased pirate radio ( Radio Dor ) station was raided today, and it's
equipment confiscated. But for the first time, since the new pirate radio
law came into force, the police recorded all the companies that advertised
with the station before the raid took place.

 A NIS2,000,000 ( $450,000 ) fine or a one year prison sentence can be
handed down if found guilty.

[HCDX] News Bulletin for Radio Amateurs and Short Wave listeners

2004-10-28 Thread Mike Terry
Every week the RSGB produces a News Bulletin for Radio Amateurs and Short
Wave listeners. They are read live on Sundays (usually) by a team of readers
throughout the UK on HF, VHF and above. The text is available on the RSGB
Site http://www.rsgb.org/ .

This service in Real Audio allows you to hear the news at any time and even
to download the files for future use. Many countries including the US,
Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand as well as Europe and the UK
take part or whole bulletins for retransmission on their own services.

For the last 3 years I have been reading these bulletins in Real Audio which
has made them more widely heard than before. There have even been extracts
on HCJB from Ecuador! Feel free to re-broadcast outside the UK, but as a
courtesy please email to let us know at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bulletins had also been re-broadcast by UK Internet Gateway Operators over
radio links but the RA have withdrawn permission (July2002) to review the
licensing implications of this.

[HCDX] The Future of Amateur Radio

2004-10-28 Thread Mike Terry
The hobby is in decline. Not because the hobby isn't interesting but because
there is still a fundamental misunderstanding about what it is and what it
has to offer. Amazing after 80 years, isn't it?

How might the future look and what changes might be necessary in the future?

Interesting article at http://www.innotts.co.uk/asperges/internet.html
