[HCDX] LAST-MINUTE DX TEST NOTIFICATION-- WBOB 600 kHz 50 kW TEST TONIGHT

SPECIAL 50 kW DX TEST LATE NIGHT TONIGHT—TONIGHT—TONIGHT 

The Courtesy Program Committee (CPC) of the NRC/IRCA is pleased to RELAY this 
announcement of a DX Test from WBOB 600 kHz in Jacksonville, FL tonight 
starting at Midnight Eastern Time (0400 UTC) at their daytime power of 50,000 
watts. 

The announcement came Thursday night at 9:28 PM Central time on Facebook from 
noted DX’er Jerry Kiefer. His announcement was as follows: 

Last minute AM DX test Friday night 9/3 starting at Midnight Eastern. 50 kw 
WBOB 600 Jacksonville will be playing classic Top 40 with full fidelity CRL 
processing. They will QSL via e-mail. Contact Chief Engineer Jerry Smith. They 
run a two tower, figure eight DA beamed North by South Southwest. Please spread 
the word. 

No other details available, but that leaves us all with about 18 hours to 
prepare. Get those antennas up, and phasers tested. Headphones on, and SDRs or 
recorders running. Suggest watching the “I Love AM Radio” Group on Facebook for 
additional details.

** CUBA [and non]. 820, Sept 3 at 0617, whooper occasionally audible
vs WBAP, and not on 870 vs WWL at the moment (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, Sept 3 at 0240, RHC English frequency is off, nor on
5990 either; is on 6165. Could 6000 transmitter be on another wrong
frequency as happens? None found: 11670 and 11850 in Spanish, 11760
off; 6060 also in Spanish. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

6000 English is running by next check at 0634, S9+30; also 6060 JBM
English under humbuzz, 6100 good S9+10 and 6165 off. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Sept 3 at 0342, R. Progreso is OFF, despite sked as
0030-0400. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. BTW, proper Spanish
words lack double-S; possible in Italian names, etc. (Glenn Hauser,

** CUBA. 15140, Sept 3 at 1451, RHC back on today after excursion to
15370 yesterday, but it`s suptorted S9/+10. 15230 is always weaker,
S5-S9 but sufficient modulation. 11760 is S9/+10 but undermodulated at
1455. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 9475, Sept 3 at 1456, hymn-like music, M&W talk
in presumed Korean, from National Unity clandestine via TAIWAN, S7-S9
and off by 1500 as scheduled; lacking WTWW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6969-USB, UT Fri Sept 3 at 0242, pirate mostly talk
with 2 or 3 guys chatting, rapidly, poorly enunciated and a hard time
figuring out what they are talking about, but F-bombs and S-bombs
every few seconds! Yet one manages a big word, ``neuro-linguistic``.
Maybe a call-in over phones? Bits of wild ``music`` here and there
such as 0249.5. S9+20/30. I wonder if the frequency choice convey a
secret implication? 0303 discussing computers. 0308 muse about
``trying to get on all SW frequencies``; eQSL from l...@l0de.com
sounds like, and that 0 = zero, mentions HF Underground. 0311
disjointed music to 0314.7* Many reports here as:

L0DE.com is a real Not Secure website, leading to numerous audios of
previous broadcasts of Nov/Dec 2018 tho I`d never heard it nor heard

** NORTH AMERICA. 11840, Fri Sept 3 at 1454, I run across the
intonations of Josiah, anti-Christ pirate Station YHWH, but unreadable
as S7-S9 equals the high local line noise level I still suffer from.
Seems he is often on 11840 in the mornings. Previously with good
signal into Alberta remote, not checked today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PERU. 4810, Sept 3 at 0628, JBA music audible on LSB only vs STANAG
on plus side, still confronting CODAR, presumed R. Logos, Chazuta

** PHILIPPINES. 9410, Sept 3 at 1501 tune-in to dead air, and off in a
few seconds. Scheduled 1400-1500 is VOA Korean via Tinang; before and
after for many hours on 9410, various BBC languages and sites (Glenn

** SAO TOME. UNID 4960, Sept 3 at 0340, S9/+10 of open carrier, VOA
Sao Tome? Not scheduled in HFCC & EiBi until 0400-0500 English daily,
0500-0530 Hausa daily, 0530-0600 French M-F, 0700-0730 Hausa daily;
2030-2100 Hausa daily, all 100 kW at 30 degrees. Aoki agrees except
for 2030 on M-F only. 4960 carrier still at 0629. No other stations
anywhen on 4960. Almost on Equator, sunrise varies only ~30 minutes

UPDATE: 

CPC was able to provide Chief Engineer Jerry Smith with some Morse Code IDs and 
sweep tones. He’ll mix those in with the Top 40 hits. Jerry is testing a 
tube-type audio chain, and the station should sound great tonight. We don’t 
expect a lot of code and sweeps, but it will be part of the test. 

Email QSLs only from Chief Engineer Jerry Smith direct. He’d love to get short 
.mp3 clips to hear how WBOB sounded at your location. Please also let him know 
what you were using for a receiver and antenna.

** CUBA. 10715, Sept 3 at 2214, a few Spanish numbers alternating with
digital blaaaps, spy number station as regularly scheduled but seldom
noted here. EiBi shows 2154-2257 on days 1357 = M/W/F/Sun (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 12030, Sept 3 at 2210 UT, around here, very wideband
distorted FM blob, but I make out a KOFM ID in passing, and then
confirm the music is // my Enid local on 103.1, also at 2219. This is
happening only with the Wellbrook loop antenna; gone when switching to
internal shortwire. Previously I had 12030 FM spurblob here matching
11780 RNA Brasil which is also on now; that was just as certain then
as KOFM source is now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 11940, Sept 3 at 2208, this SNR frequency for S America is
still AWOL including during token English Friday semihour. 17855 to N
America still holding up well, S9/+20, about Venice Film Festival.
clips in Italian. 15520 is S2-S4 and modulating, about the same on
11670, all monitored direct.

[and non] At 2312, 15520 is off as scheduled, 11670 now occupied by
S9+20 of dead air from CUBA, 11940 is still AWOL, but should remain
until 0200* like 17855, the only one left (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, Sept 3 at 2213, VOT English to NAm is AWOL again

** U S A. (7489.9v), UT Sat Sept 4 at , WBCQ webcast with
`AAAWWW`; not even checking SW frequencies but Allan says they are
only trimulcasting on 7490, 6160, 4790, as he couldn`t get 3265 to
come on when he tried at 2345, unknown why it`s getting no AC, and no
time to mess with it now, maybe a fuse blew?

The $245K plate amplifier tube from France has arrived. Continental
will be coming next week to test it before installing in the
SuperStition. The crate alone must have cost $1K. It was well packed
with a tip indicator, which shows it was also carefully handled in
shipping. Complains that can`t get people in to do antenna work no
matter how much the pay. 2 megawatt Diesel generator has also needed
maintenance for two years. Blames government for unemployment
compensation. Electricity cost has doubled since WBCQ started in 1998,
but airtime rates remain as then, not even raised for inflation;
roughly $50/hour, should be $200+.

0022, caller from Toronto with news that CHML 820 in Hamilton has
flipped to comedy format. [NO, 820 is CHAM; CHML is on 900! -- gh];
discussing formats and whether there is really any demand for comedy;
0026 mulling future of AM & FM; noting that Switzerland is keeping FM
a little longer until 2024 when everything goes DAB. 0033 caller from
Durango CO, ``Ravvashoe``? 0037 starts reading cold some items from
new Free Radio Weekly just in, including mine about ``Lode`` Radio,
MRI classical and YHWH. 

0039 Bill in Ohio interrupts as another caller. Points out that unlike
most cars, the Toyota Prius has VG AM radio engineered so car computer
noise itself is avoided. 0045 resumes FRW items. 0047 caller requests
some music, ``It`s a Beautiful World`` by Devo. This is not a music
request show, but will make an exception and play that for him next
week. 0053 stream craps out as usual at this exact time, why? I
restart it. Don`t blame White people for slavery: everybody did it
back in the day. 0058 prayer, and off by 0100 in time to hear Hal
Turner theme. John Carver`s version:
