Because there are a low number of receivers able to tune the extended FM band in hands of listeners in Brazil (-> portable & fixed receivers, cell phones, FM receivers in cars, trucks), Brazilian federal regulatory agencies have given freedom to the medium wave broadcasters that are going to the extended FM band to continue using their traditional MW frequencies in parallel for 5 years. . This 4th station presented a sequence of Brazilian regional music. I presume (only presume!!! ) that it may have been Radio Antares, Teresina PI. It had no similar characteristic to the listened stations of Brasilia, Santa Maria and Rio de Janeiro (the loop rotation allowed this immediate verification). And as I said, there are only 4 Brazilian stations at 800 kHz today. In other frequencies researched over time we have found some stations of the north / northeast Of Brazil occasionally: 1380 kHz Radio Continental, Recife, and has been constantly the same situation with 860 kHz Radio City, Fortaleza. 1290 kHz: Radio Brasil Sul, Londrina PR, 24/01 0244. Reaching 330° / 340° Azimuth, we find a new clear transmission from BBN Radio, but with a lower signal than Viña del Mar. Antenna pointed at Colombia, there is BBN Radio from Bogotá, at the same frequency as the Chilean broadcast. It is no longer to the first time we have been able with this simple technique using the Quantum Loop V2.0 Antenna, with a same result. Gustavo Guaita (Antonio Carlos SC), and Denis Zoqbi (São Paulo) had enjoyed the same experience / result. COLOMBIA - CLM, 1100 kHz: BBN Radio, via Bogotá (pres.), Spanish, 24/01 0112. Christian songs, male voice communication. The same program as the same station from Chile (see above, please). REMARK: Turning slightly the direction of the 330° / 340° Azimuth antenna westward, no other station found up to 270° Az, a full silence track. In this second angle, back to BBN Radio, Viña del Mar, at 1100 kHz, with a slightly higher signal strength than found in the Colombian transmission. 73, and good DX, rg. Times in UTC. +++ This is a test of possibilities using indoor loop antennas in my new radio-shack, that is being assembled in my second home (rural area of Ibiuna), in a beautiful landscape, mountains and dense forest, around 910 m above sea level. In this place, many new sounds: horses, cows, roosters, ducks, dogs, birds, etc... And, last Saturday night we were visited by a type of a fox that lives in the Atlantic Forest of the region. A fantastic scene. The flashlight used outside left no doubt, as well, as the footprint marks on the fresh cement at the floor. The antennas used on this action: AlexLoop SML7-30 (7 to 30 MHz, passive antenna); Quantum Loop Radio Plus + (active antenna, used for medium waves, from 530 to 1710 kHz - very sensitive, and very directive) - this, connected to a Potomac FL-31 filter; and, a AOR LA-400 antenna (active antenna, covering 153 kHz to 30 MHz). The three antennas with an excelent result. There was no a comparative test, but just a seek for a good result. And it was posible. As a next step, I will apply one or two external antennas (perhaps my new W6LVP antena and the MiniWhip PA0RDT, ... or...), seeking to know the best environment for a definitive decision: to use better internal or the external antennas, or even both. (++) I am setting up a radio shack at the house in my rural area cottage in Ibiuna, 125 km from my home in São Bernardo. For now, they are experiments with internal antennas and some receivers. A place with dense forest, mountains, with an altitude above 900 m. The local is 8 km from Piedade, a small and cozy city, interior of the state of São Paulo. The quality of the reception is surprising. Step by step I am forming my technical opinion on which combinations of equipment (rx, ant int / ext, acc) should be definitively applied there. I have good options. The place is quite appropriate. With the advantage of being a rural region, the inhabitants sleep early to wake up very early the next day. They are predominantly farm workers. After the chickens climb on their perches to sleep, most residents are next to rest.
