[HCDX] PNG Bougainville

2016-02-27 Thread Arthur Delibert
Papua New Guinea. 3925 kHz, 1128 - 1200+ presume Bougainville, as recently
reported by others. Tuned in to pop mx at 1128. Male anncr in Pidgin at 1138.
At some point between 1140 and 1145, when I was tuned away, the modulation
disappeared, but a strong carrier remained until shortly after 1200, when it
was switched off. Fair signal. (Art Delibert, Maryland, 2/27/16)

Overall, conditions from Oceania were good this morning. ABC noted around 1125
on 2325 (best), 2485 (worst) and 4835 (good, but lots of splatter from 4840).
RRI Merauke on 3905 with a pretty good signal from 1145 onward, but at TOH
covered by a ham operator (using upper sideband, very unconventional for the
80M band); fading to unreadable around 1220.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA 3385 R. East New Britain Usual pgming w/fairly nice signal
before it started fading around 1245. Really noisy though. Finally went off
at 1334:52 in mid-song. Decent signal on 3325 at 1312, probably Bougainville
after pgm had already ended. Sounded like the Indo was underneath. 3290 was
doing well also but w/QRM from SSB xmsns. Still just barely getting audio by
1329. Looked like the signal was still there at 1400. Disappointed that 3345,
3315, 3275 and 3260 have all been silent lately. (23 Jan)

Re: [HCDX] PNG - no IRC's

2006-03-05 Thread John Sgrulletta
I know from writing Radio Central, PNG that the programme manager there
preferred mint stamps. I don't recall what he said about IRCs but he did not
want US dollars- I think it was a problem going to the bank with them.

[HCDX] ? PNG 4960 heard this morning!

2004-04-23 Thread Walter Salmaniw
Folks, I recorded 4960 from 1015 for an hour (while I slept), and I've just
reviewed the tape. Now this is tentative, but at approximately 10:45 UTC
today 21/April 2004, there began a vocal national anthem, which I'm quite
certain is identical to several websites of National Anthems. This was
followed by a male talking, but too weak for me to be sure of language,
etc. Sounded like a prayer in all likelihood. I was using a R5000 with a
T2FD. Not ideal, but I wasn't up at the time to fire up my HF-2050 and
select the best antenna. Signal strength was just a little weaker than
Port Moresby usually is on 4890. As I listen, the language is not
English. This lasted for about 5 minutes, than some modern music. Seems
to be recorded outside at a live event? Can anyone verify the above? Are
there any Latins signing on at that time?.Walt.
