[HCDX] Re unid 6005

2006-10-27 Thread Johan Berglund
Hi Glenn and all,
Re Glenn's unid on 6005, I don't understand why you didn't think about
Deutschlandradio Kultur which is
more or less a local here. I enjoy this station a lot. Its programming is
really a mix of cultural features
from any place worldwide, not neccesarily centered on Germany. Tx-site is
listed as Berlin-Britz 100 kW,
and I presume it's non-directional. Right now at 0906 UT, Oct 27 they are
giving a the forecast of water levels
and weather around the Baltic and northwest European coast. (Well, that doesn't
matter so much for a land-crab
like me, but we do have a storm with possible gale force winds right now in
northweast Europe.)
It's rather difficult for me to imagine how you hear 6005 in Enid, OK. Radio
Habana Cuba must be very strong
on 6000.

Ciao / Johan Berglund, Trollhättan, Sweden. AOR AR7030 and presently using a
30 m lw mixed with a K9AY.

Is this R Tsentr from Moscow (Kurkino) relaying WYFR? Good signal here in

Also, WRTH 2005 frequency list shows R. Payam-e Doost, which is in the USA

Farsi. It`s the Baha`i station.

Hi folks,

Re. the UNID on 15500 kHz, most info that I can find state that CNR-2 shut
down 15500 kHz at 14.00 utc, (which appears to happen). However, here in
Guernsey (Channel Islands) UK, CNR-1 can be heard clearly after 14.00
utc... (or at least it sounds like CNR-1 comparing against parallel 11710
kHz). Maybe this is your answer? You are getting CNR-1 and CNR-2 together up
untill 14.00, then CNR-1 on it's own.

BTW... I can find nothing to indicate that CNR-1 should be on 15500 at this
time... but that doesn't change the fact that it is:-)

Hans Johnson of Cumbre DX made a good comment that perhaps my unid. was
Manus relaying 4890 Port Moresby after their local sign-off. The odd part is
the change from a good-to-very-good level of Manus at sign-off, to the
barely readable audio, down in the noise. I'll have to check again tomorrow
for 3315 post-1200 and see if it's parallel 4890. The Manus carrier dropped
immediately at 1201 after the NA... perhaps they didn't pull the plug out

Subject: [HCDX] Loggings for 3315 kHz

UNIDENTIFIED 3315, 1202-1215, Aug 16 While reviewing a recording of R.
Manus, I discovered a weak signal of a male announcer in English that had
been lurking beneath the PNG station. After Manus signed off at 1201 this
unidentified station was in the clear, but very weak. The programming was a
newscast read by a male announcer, with mentions of 'Southeast Asia',
'Indonesia' and (most interestingly) a clear 'National Radio' at 1204:30.
After a long pause, the announcer began what sounded like a commentary that
continued until the end of my recording at 1215. The last five minutes were
covered by a strong utility transmission, which is unfortunate because the
unid voice station was getting stronger. In last year's DXing.info article
titled Broadcasting In Laos (http://www.dxing.info/articles/laos.dx), Bob
Padula mentioned 'A fourth transmitter is registered, with 1 kW, on 3315,
0100-1800, again for Laos, but not heard recently.' Could this unid be Lao
National Radio? 1200 UTC is just past sunset in Vientienne, and a half-hour
before my local sunrise. (Atkins-WA)

On 25 May around 1830 I checked 11180 against the reported Libyan

both of these two channels. Mode is AM/USB with more or less
suppressed LSB/carrier.

On 24 May at 2115-2145 I listened to 11180U and noted decent signal with
some fading. Talks and music in Arabic. Sounds like they are targeting
the People of Iraq. Two rather long and complicated (to my ears) id's
heard, mentioning Shaab al Iraq and Jamahiriya. I believe this is
the station broadcasting from Libya to Iraq. They've been on various
frequencies in the 41, 31 and 25 meterbands for the past year or so.
Haven't seen the complete id in writing in the dx-bulletins.

Looks like this mystery might have been solved. I have just been informed
that it is BVB (Bible Voice Broadcasting) testing to Iraq with sign on at

Hi Robin et al, been doing a bit of research on your 5925 station. Monitored
last night, carrier switched on at 2230 and straight into prayers (sounded
like the program was already in full swing), read by YL, then some words in
presumably Arabic and a screeching French horn sound. Prayers were for Iraq,
interspersed with religious music (like Hallelujah Chorus etc.). At 2252
OM took over the reading but the content was heavy going! One thing I can
say is it is NOT FBN (WBOH), I checked WTJC on 9MHZ and the webcast, plus
WBOH was heard faintly on 5920. Signals were 5bD over 9 here and constant,
which indicates to me that the transmitter site is in Europe somewhere. Only
religious info I could find ont eh web for 5925 was a broadcast from HCJB
relayed by Germany but this was not HCJB! The YL voice sounded familiar (may
be Sharon Blodgett of 'Perfect Gift Ministries'? They may have started
broadcasting on SW again). I listened until 2320 and heard nothing close to
an ID, so it still remains a mystery but hopefully the more facts we get the
better chance we have of Identifying this one.

Thanks for the sugestion. I thought you had my mystery solved for a
while there...?
I'm hearing it again now (Tuesday 22.35 utc - 27th,April). Also, I
heard it again for a couple of hours yesterday. But no ID has been
heard as of yet???
Plus it is definitely on 5925 kHz and not 5920, so as of this moment
in time I am still unsure...
If I do get an ID then I'll log it here on Shortwave first.

That could have been WBOH out of Newport, NC. Tis on from 1200
GMT to around 1000 GMT. Power is about 50 kw. It is a religous
broadcaster.
Can anybody help me ID this broadcaster please..??
5925 kHz, English. unID, Christian Ministry with songs and
readings.
Mainly praying for Iraq when I first tuned in at 22.40 utc
(Sunday
 25th,April.2004).
A good sinpo rating of 45444 here in Guernsey, Chan. Isles. (UK)

I must admit that that one had me a little bit curious. However, I'll still
log it as pressumed for now, due to the lack of a literal ID.

Hi Karel - Its likely your UNID on 845.97 was Radio North, a long-time
pirate station from Carndonagh, County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland.
It plays a lot of CW and Irish music and has religious programmes too
(these used to go under the name of Gospel 846). Its normally slightly
off-channel and is very strong when we are on DXpeditions in NW Scotland!
Even down here in southern England it can be heard in the evenings as 846 is
quite a clear channel.
