[HCDX] Re unid 6005
Hi Glenn and all, Re Glenn's unid on 6005, I don't understand why you didn't think about Deutschlandradio Kultur which is more or less a local here. I enjoy this station a lot. Its programming is really a mix of cultural features from any place worldwide, not neccesarily centered on Germany. Tx-site is listed as Berlin-Britz 100 kW, and I presume it's non-directional. Right now at 0906 UT, Oct 27 they are giving a the forecast of water levels and weather around the Baltic and northwest European coast. (Well, that doesn't matter so much for a land-crab like me, but we do have a storm with possible gale force winds right now in northweast Europe.) It's rather difficult for me to imagine how you hear 6005 in Enid, OK. Radio Habana Cuba must be very strong on 6000. Ciao / Johan Berglund, Trollhättan, Sweden. [HCDX] Re: unID on 5925 kHz (still a ???)
Looks like this mystery might have been solved. I have just been informed that it is BVB (Bible Voice Broadcasting) testing to Iraq with sign on at 2230. Be nice if they ID'ed once in a while! 73 Sean Hi Robin et al, been doing a bit of research on your 5925 station. Monitored last night, carrier switched on at 2230 and straight into prayers (sounded like the program was already in full swing), read by YL, then some words in presumably Arabic and a screeching French horn sound. Prayers were for Iraq, interspersed with religious music (like Hallelujah Chorus etc.). At 2252 OM took over the reading but the content was heavy going! One thing I can say is it is NOT FBN (WBOH), I checked WTJC on 9MHZ and the webcast, plus WBOH was heard faintly on 5920. Signals were 5bD over 9 here and constant, which indicates to me that the transmitter site is in Europe somewhere. Only religious info I could find ont eh web for 5925 was a broadcast from HCJB relayed by Germany but this was not HCJB! The YL voice sounded familiar (may be Sharon Blodgett of 'Perfect Gift Ministries'? They may have started broadcasting on SW again). I listened until 2320 and heard nothing close to an ID, so it still remains a mystery but hopefully the more facts we get the better chance we have of Identifying this one. 73 Sean Thanks for the sugestion. I thought you had my mystery solved for a while there...? I'm hearing it again now (Tuesday 22.35 utc - 27th,April). Also, I heard it again for a couple of hours yesterday. But no ID has been heard as of yet??? Plus it is definitely on 5925 kHz and not 5920, so as of this moment in time I am still unsure... If I do get an ID then I'll log it here on Shortwave first. That could have been WBOH out of Newport, NC. Tis on from 1200 GMT to around 1000 GMT. Power is about 50 kw. It is a religous broadcaster. Can anybody help me ID this broadcaster please..?? 5925 kHz, English. unID, Christian Ministry with songs and readings. [HCDX] Re: unID on 5925 kHz (still a ???)
Hi Robin et al, been doing a bit of research on your 5925 station. Hi Sean, and everybody, Thanks for your info on the mystery 5925 kHz unID Christian station Sean. I must admit that that one had me a little bit curious. However, I'll still log it as pressumed for now, due to the lack of a literal ID. --- Sean (WRTH International Editor) replied to my original query with the following: Looks like this mystery might have been solved. I have just been informed that it is BVB (Bible Voice Broadcasting) testing to Iraq with sign on at 2230. Be nice if they ID'ed once in a while! [HCDX] Re: UNID 846 kHz playing CW
Hi Karel - Its likely your UNID on 845.97 was Radio North, a long-time pirate station from Carndonagh, County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. It plays a lot of CW and Irish music and has religious programmes too (these used to go under the name of Gospel 846). Its normally slightly off-channel and is very strong when we are on DXpeditions in NW Scotland! Even down here in southern England it can be heard in the evenings as 846 is quite a clear channel. 73s Alan Pennington, BDXC-UK Caversham, UK AOR7030+ / longwire / beverage ---[Start Commercial]- World Radio TV Handbook 2003 is out!
