** BRAZIL. 11815, Sept 2 at 0547, R. Brasil Central, poor with music, and no
spur crackle from 11780 for a change; however, splatter around 11780 is worse
up to 20 kHz above and below. Further chex into Sept 3 have not found the
11710/11745/11815 spurs; holding breath hoping they have been permanently
erased, but not counting on it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11855+, Sept 2 at 0549, R. Aparecida, poor with devotional (what
else?) in Brazuguese, better than // 9630v (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CANADA. 2748.95-USB, Sept 2 at 0140, YL robot with marine weather in
English, i.e. scheduled at this time, VAR-3 Fundy NS, i.e. Yarmouth just
started (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 14920, Sept 3 at 1248, CNR1 jammer, poor with flutter; none in the
16s, 15s, 12s. Not many of these logged lately with depressed FE propagation

13870, Sept 3 at 1249, algos making lo het: probably CNR1 jammer vs Sound of
Hope; or RFA Burmese via UAE is also scheduled, and the latter could be
off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11650, Sept 2 at 0127, pulse jamming against nothing, presumably a
stray; only thing scheduled here is CRI Chinese via Urumqi (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 9315.0, Sept 2 at 0112, R. Cairo S9+5 but open carrier/dead air
instead of Spanish

9965.2, Sept 2 at 0117, R. Cairo with whine, open carrier/dead air instead of
Arabic

11935.0, Sept 2 at 0129, R. Cairo S7, open carrier/dead air instead of Spanish

12070, Sept 2 at 0129, R. Cairo, S8 with undermodulated Spanish but not too
distorted (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420 & 9935, Sept 2 at 0113, VOGs are off again, UT Wed, so it`s not
only weekends. I have discerned no pattern to their comings and goings (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN [and non]. 9740, Sept 2 at 0119, open carrier, 0121 some JBA talk, and
music past 0130. In this case it must be VIRI as sked in Urdu 0120-0220, 250
kW, 84 degrees from Ahwaz; rather than R. Sultanate of Oman extending its 22-24
frequency, despite not hearing it on 9500 or 15140. It`s probably on the
latter, not propagating (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** LITHUANIA. 9400, Sept 2 at 0113, S4 signal in central Asian language, i.e.
IBB in Uighur, 01-02, 100 kW, 79 degrees via Sitkunai, per HFCC; i.e. Radio
Free Asia, and *jammed per Aoki by the ChiCom but none of that heard (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 740-, Sept 3 at 0659 UT, with auroral boost, horrible low rumbling
het against KRMG Tulsa, and somewhat separable with LSB tuning on the DX-398
and nulling: PSA about Puebla; Radio F?rmula, Chihuahua also mentioned but call
ID for flagship in the DF, XERFR 970. Really must be XEQN Torre?n, Coahuila,
10/1 kW, the only other F?rmula on 740 being in Q.Roo (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO [and non]. 780v, Sept 3 at 0702, WBBM is wiped out by auroral
conditions, instead ID for Exa-FM, 3-minute-fast 2:05 TC, making low rumbling
het but not as bad as 740 XEQN/KRMG. Last year`s IRCA log and WRTH 2015 show
two Exas on 780, but surely it`s the closer one, XEWGR, Monclova, Coahuila,
10/0.25 kW, rather than 5 kW daytimer, XEZN in Celaya, Guanajuato (and Cant? as
of last Feb listed no Guanajuatan on 780). I can null both this and what`s left
of WBBM to hear 720-watt KCEG Fountain CO with country music in the clear
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 9690, Sept 2 at 0557, VON cacophony IS is the SSOB leading up to
Hausa hour, but nothing on 7255 next to 7250 Vatican. 24+ hours later, neither
VON frequency audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925.12-AM, Sept 2 at 0110, JBA carrier, presumed Liquid
Radio, as per
http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,23240.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6955-USB, Sept 2 at 0107, pirate music at S9, 0108 long
pause, 0109 more music; 0121 still music; 0131 sounds much stronger, rock
jumpstarts, stops, resumes; 0138 animal sound effects, 0139.5 rock. This thread
says it was XLR8, on the air intermittently for over 5 hours, 0057 until 0605:
http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,23238.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Re: don`t you believe WFSM call change on 1650 from KYHN --- Glenn
- The CDBS database has this station back to KYHN as of Friday, August 28 -
should be fixed in AM Query by Monday. 73, (David Yocis, NRC, WORLD OF RADIO
1789, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Not checked AM Query until 0410 UT Sept 2, and yes indeed, no WFSM, and KYHN is
back; and no sign of WFSM in 87114`s Call Sign History, either! Now, FCC site
is down until Sept 8 for ``modernizing`` (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Sept 2 at 0056, no signal from R. Chaski, evidently off the air
already so no autocutoff to time tonight around 0105 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, Sept 2 at 0114:46.5, music starts on only S1 carrier;
mis-timesignal ends at 0115:18.5, SLBC ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1788 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday Sept 2 at 1315 on
WRMI 9955; good, no jamming (preceded by FG Radio reading from Gandhi
complaining about railways in India; followed by Viva Miami about hurricane
preparedness). WOR Also confirmed on WBCQ 7490 webcast, Wednesday at 2100.

WORLD OF RADIO 1789 monitoring: ready for first broadcasts Sept 3:
Thu 1130 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Thu 2100 WRMI 7570 to NW
Fri 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE
Fri 2130.5 WRMI 7570 to NW
Fri 2330 WRMI 5850 to NW
Sat 0630 HLR 7265-CUSB to SW
Sat 1430 HLR 7265-CUSB to SW
Sat 1930v WA0RCR 1860-AM ND?
Sun 0315v WA0RCR 1860-AM ND?
Sun 2300 WRMI 11580 to NE
Mon 0300v WBCQ 5110v Area 51 to WSW
Mon 0330 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 0630 HLR 7265-CUSB to SW
Wed 1315 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 1430 HLR 7265-CUSB to SW
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW

Full WOR schedule:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5109.7-CUSB, Sept 2 at 0105, WBCQ is back to Brother Scare, // 7490 a
split second behind, with BS about Obama being a Moslem. BS comes and goes on
5110, but still missing from schedule as of Sept 4:
http://schedule.wbcq.com/main.php?fn=sked&freq=5110
maybe a mistake? He is on 7490 sked 01-03 UT Tue-Sat, weekends longer:
http://schedule.wbcq.com/main.php?fn=show_program&id=56
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 6220-AM, Sept 2 at 0056 UT check, JBA carrier, much stronger than
JJBA carrier on 8820, i.e. the WWCR 7520 plus/minus WNQM 1300 mixes, no doubt
still relaying WMDB 880 Nashville TN, La Ranchera. 6220 still audible at 0145
with ranchera music, Spanish, but not 8820.

New NRC AM Log for 1300 does not mention WMDB relay but 24h WNQM as ``Radio
Vida`` --- is that branding still in effect at any hours? So now into
September, WNQM should be cutting 1300 from 50 kW ND to 5 kW direxional night
power at 0000 UT, but still enough to be detected on the two SW frequencies. I
was going to look up the morning transition time, but FCC website is down until
Sept 8 as per this intercept:
https://www.fcc.gov/blog/modernizing-fcc-s-it
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6163.5-USB, Sept 3 at 1235, 2-ways in colloquial Spanish
intruders, referring to ``puta madre``, ``amanecer``, het from weak AM
broadcaster on 6165, which per Aoki could be any of: India, China, Myanmar,
Vietnam! Not to mention Chad and Zambia (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7292.0-USB, Sept 2 at 0134, some ham discussing transmitting from
balloons, but with QRM from AM carriers and LSB hams. It seems these
LSB-rejexionists on 40m appear only in the 7260-7295 or so range (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BIAFRA [non]. 15560.02, Sept 3 at 1856 checking again for clandestine R.
Biafra, only a very poor S2-S3 signal with music, now about equal to 15570
Vatican and 15580 Botswana. But by 1900, 15560 has declined to an S1 JBA
carrier. This one is not off-frequency to 15560.45 as reported (only?) by
Rodney Johnson using the UTwente SDR on Aug 28. An hour later today, Jos?
Miguel Romero wasn`t sure it was still R. Biafra, as he was hearing an unID
with religious? music along with talk in English and an African language (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 2749.08-USB, Sept 4 at 0057, marine weather in French but English
accent, S6. Scheduled now is VCO in Sydney NS from 0040 per
http://www.dxinfocentre.com/mb.htm which does not remark which languages it
emits.

BTW, also listed on 2749 at 2317 and other times is
VCN QC Riviere au Renard 47 21 26, -61 55 36 EE/FF.
Compare this to my recent log on 2598 of
CJH-22 QC Natashquan (Riviere au Renard) 50 08 40, -61 48 00 EE/FF.

That apparently means N is relaying R-au-R, as their coordinates are quite
divergent and exactly the same broadcast times are shown for both of them.
However, the first set of coordinates are approx. the Magdalen Islands, while
R-au-R is really at the eastern end of the Gasp? Peninsula (just north of
Perc?), roughly 49 N, 64 W. The two places are on opposite sides of Anticosti
Island at a distance of 228 km = 141 statute miles = 123 nautical miles (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. Haven`t heard much WOOB CNR1 jamming lately, so I go searching early
UT Sept 4:

16250, Sept 4 at 0044, CNR1 jammer, S1 with heavy flutter

17200, Sept 4 at 0046, CNR1 jammer, S1 with heavy flutter

17560, Sept 4 at 0046, Chinese much stronger at S2 also fluttery; VOA via
Philippines during this hour only OR a jammer: I didn`t check // or stay with
it long enough to decide

14870, Sept 4 at 0048, CNR1 jammer is JBA
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Sept 4 at 0025, VOG is on tonight, S7 in undermodulated Greek.
(Earlier on Sept 3, Europeans noted it had jumped to 9415; presumably to avoid
Iran in Arabic, but only sometimes?)

9934.92, Sept 4 at 0029, VOG with whine centered about here, just barely
modulated otherwise (Glenn hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, Sept 4 at 0013, pirate music at S7; nothing heard a
semihour later. These logs say it was Amphetamine Radio at 0008-0031:
http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,23269.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU [non]. 5980, Sept 4 at 0035 and 0100, no signals from R. Chaski which
is presumably off. Meanwhile, 5990 CRI relay via Cuba kept running a bit past
0100* as they were misopening English (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7290.88, Sept 4 at 0018, ham QSO by W9BZ on USB, while his contact,
another W9, is weaker but in DSB/AM on 7290.63. Per ARRL, W9BZ is LOWARY,
LOWELL R, GREENWOOD, IN 46142 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7588.50-USB, UT Fri Sept 4 at 0022, MARS net with abbr`d calls
fonetikaly, 6QE, 6CX, 6AU, and a YL, 6BB, formal protocols, discussing Winmor
and Pactor. My previous logs of this frequency are in DXLDs 13-50 and 14-46, as
Texas US Army MARS; full calls probably starting with AAA6- or AAR6- (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1789 monitoring: confirmed on caradio Thursday Sept 3

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 6220-AM, Sept 4 at 0035, music at S3 level, while 8820 is a JBA
carrier, i.e. WWCR 7520 plus/minus WNQM 1300 carrying WMDB 880. Chris Crosby in
Buggs Island VA has also been hearing 6220 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 10100.0, Sept 4 at 0032, JBA S1 AM carrier with broadcast-type talk;
how about a harmonic? Yes! Matched on the PL-880 to 5050, WWRB BSing (I had
just noticed that 9370 was already off). On the NRD-545, 5050 meters at S9 +35,
and despite the disparity I doubt this harmonic is receiver-produced (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Glenn: -- Your ESPN/1560 appears to be WMBH [Joplin MO]
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=ESPN+FM+101.5+%26+am+1560
73z ? (GREG HARDISON, CA, Sept 1, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Tnx, Greg. Good: the new NRC AM Log had WMBH`s FM // as KSHQ 100.7, and in fact
100.7 is still shown at the WMBH website:
http://espnjoplin.com/wmbh/

But on Facebook Aug 25 they do refer to 101.5: ``Tune in daily to ESPN Radio
Joplin from 5-6p and Fridays 12p-2p on 1560 AM /101.5 FM and the WMBH App.``

Here`s the significant FB item:

``ESPN Joplin - The Sports Edge June 22 [2015] ? ESPN Radio now has a new FM
station here in Joplin, along with 1560 AM we are now a simulcast with 101.5
FM! Great signal with larger reach. The Sports Edge, Joplin Blasters, and all
other ESPN Programming can now be heard on both stations.``

FCC FM Query shows 101.5 in Joplin is a mere translator, K268CP, first an APP,
then a CP for 15 WATTS. Another unrelated translator is listed on 100.5, but no
100.7 for Joplin itself. KSHQ 100.7 is 17.7 kW licensed to Deerfield MO, which
is too insignificant to appear in the Rand McNally Atlas index. Radio-locator
shows its site is on the KS side of the border, SSE of Fort Scott KS, = NNW of
Joplin which is between its Distant and Fringe contours. Then I find Deerfield
on the map, east of Fort Scott KS, west of Nevada MO. So the 15-watt translator
can`t possibly have a ``larger reach`` than a 17.7 kW station, but it is
certainly closer to Joplin.

Radio-Locator acknowledges the WMBH/K268CP connexion, but shows:

``Parent Station Address:
611 Main St
Joplin, MO 64801
Please Note: This address comes from the FCC's database and may not be up to
date. For verified radio station mailing addresses, please look at our mailing
list options.

K268CP-FM [sic] Technical Info:
This station is operating under a Construction Permit:
Parent Station WMBH-AM [sic]
Status Currently Off the Air FM Translator [Help]
Frequency 101.5 MHz
City Joplin, Missouri
Effective Radiated Power 15 Watts``

But no coverage map to facilitate coverage evaluation circaJoplin. BTW, address
for WMBH is listed in NRC AM Log as across the border in Wyandotte OK, which is
way up in Ottawa County, NE corner of OK, the town SE of Miamuh OK. I wasn`t
aware Metro Joplin extended that far (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Interesting, must have a STA for the translator it's shown as a CP with an
AP[plication] in the FM Query (Wayne Heinen, NRC AM Log, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 2182.0, Sept 4 at 0103 UT, S3 AM carrier. This is the old marine
distress and calling frequency which I thought had been deactivated years ago.
What would be on it now? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11635.0-USB, Sept 4 at 0037, 2-way in colloquial Spanish, one of
them weaker and distorted; discussing huecos and the saying ``entre la patita y
la flecha`` which Google translates as ``between the leg and the arrow``. But
patita alone can mean duckling (feminine). And I may not have understood that
word correctly. 11635 bears of course a Cuban spy numbers station earlier in
the day (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 14888.70-USB, Sept 4 at 0047, 2-way in colloquial Spanish, long
pauses, so maybe only one side audible, and he could be borracho (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 14475.0, Sept 4 at 0049, very poor S1 AM signal, maybe another
CNR1 jammer, but not in Aoki. Could also be 3 x 4825 where one finds: two
inactive(?) Brazilians, and two Peruvians, one hi, one lo, but this one is
right on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
