I see now that Jim was referring to many links in these tutorial documents
at http://www.hardhats.org/fileman/Main/FMtut_frm.htm .

I've now changed most of them so that the hyperlinks go to hardhats, rather
than to the inaccessible VA web pages. Many of the links are in upper-case,

however, and our Unix server doesn't like mixed-case file names, so these
links remain broken.

Subject: [Hardhats-members] GTM prompt weirdness with FreeBSD

I see a '1h' displayed immediately following the GTM prompt when I run
HUI OpenVistA 4.1 with the Linux compatibility layer under FreeBSD 6.1
for x86. No windowing system is running - i.e. just from the plain
console screen via an ssh session I see this;

GTM>1h

I tried various shells with no change in the behavior. I also noticed
the same thing when I ssh into and log into our HUI/Debian/GTM/VistA
server from a FreeBSD terminal. The '1h' will disappear after commands
such as 'D ^XUP' are run and then recalled using the history facility.
(i.e. up-arrow).

This doesn't happen under Debian/Sarge, NetBSD or OpenBSD. I don't
have a Mac around to check OS X. However under Debian/Sarge the
history facility doesn't work.

The reason I am interested in using FreeBSD is that I have noticed
rare lock ups over ssh-terminal sessions with stock Debian/Sarge
terminals. And so far in testing this doesn't appear to be the case
under FreeBSD. I admire and like the engineering, cohesiveness and
rock solid stability that FreeBSD offers so that is why I started
testing it for possible production.

I like the idea of using just plain terminals for many reasons but the
system lock ups as mentioned above are going to be troublesome.

I haven't experienced any frozen screens/lock-ups over ssh under KDE
using Konsole or xterms with Debian/Sarge - which is also perfectly
stable but much more resource intensive. We could certainly run
lightweight window managers as an alternative, but for some users I
would prefer that all they see is the plain old terminal.

Thanks.

Now I really screwed things up! I tried to install VPE which I found
easier to use to look at the globals directly, and at the D ^ZVEMBLD
step, I got the following message:

/bin/bash: OpenVista/4/tempRET32648.txt: No such file or
directory

Now when I try to enter VistA, through ^HUILOGIN, ^ZU, ^XUS or ^XUP I
get this:

GTM>d ^XUS
Copyright (c) 2006, Pacific Telehealth & Technology Hui
All rights reserved.

The copyright referred to herein applies to the software code
modifications and enhancements made by the Pacific Telehealth &
Technology Hui to allow the FOIA version of the Department of Veterans

/bin/bash: OpenVista/4/tempRET32648.txt: No such file or directory
%SYSTEM-E-ENO2, No such file or directory
 At M source location RETURN+6^%ZOSV

I can enter Fileman directly through Q^DI, or P^DI. What did I do and
more importantly how can I undo it?

Hi All,

I want to write a mumps routine that retrieve records
from a fileman file based on a condition on a certain
field in the file.

e.g. retrieve records from option file where TYPE
field is equal to "B" i.e. Broker

The mumps routine has to be silent (no user
interaction) because I want to use this routine via
RPC broker.

The fileman DBS API FIND^DIC seems to be the solution
but I cant figure out how to put in the condition

FIND^DIC(FILE,IENS,FIELDS,FLAGS,[.]VALUE,NUMBER,[.]INDEXES,[.]SCREEN,IDENTIF
IER,TARGET_ROOT,MSG_ROOT)

it seems that the FIND^DIC routine only searches on
the basis of the .01 (name) field of a record.

Is there any way to search on the basis of another
field in the record?

Imran

Hi All,

We wanted to configure Emergency module using VistA.
But in the documentation site(www.va.gov/vdl), there is nothing specific to ER
module.

In general, ER module contains the following tasks (as per my knowledge).
Appreciate if some one could correct me or add to my list of tasks.

1) Ambulatory services

2) Temporary / fast registration

3) Reception - fast admission / allocation of physician / checking bed
availability

4) Vitals Recording

5) Unscheduled Appointments

For the above said services, can some one give me the menus so that we can work
out easily.

Thanks in advance.

hui LAUNCHES INITIAL RELEASEOF VISTA TRAINING PROGRAM CURRICULA

The Pacific Telehealth & Technology Hui ("Hui") announced the release of
the
VistA Institute curricula, a VistA training and certification program.
The
Hui has made the curricula freely available for downloading on the Hui's
web
site at www.pacifichui.org.
In 2005, the Hui partnered with the University of Hawaii and VistA
subject
matter experts throughout the continental U.S. to develop a VistA
training
and certification curricula for clinical application coordinators and
system
administrators.
"The VistA Institute curricula will serve as a resource to enhance the
technical and clinical competency needed to implement, support and
encourage
adoption of VistA in the healthcare market worldwide," explained Hui
Director
Stanley M. Saiki, Jr., M.D.
VistA is a robust, enterprise-wide health information used by the
Department
of Veterans Affairs and made available to the public through the Freedom
of
Information Act (FOIA). Described as 'one of the best healthcare
information
systems in the nation' by the Institute of Medicine, the VistA
technology
been honed over two decades and is used to support the clinical,
financial
and administrative needs of the VA's network of 1,300 healthcare
facilities,
including 160 medical centers.
In 2003 the Pacific Telehealth & Technology Hui developed and released
Hui
OpenVista(tm), an open source, nonproprietary version of the FOIA VistA
that
runs on Linux and utilizes a nonproprietary database management system
developed by Sanchez Computer Associates of Fidelity Information
Systems.
Hui OpenVista has attracted widespread interest from healthcare and
medical
research organizations as well as technology companies and software
developers worldwide.
The Hui is collaborating with government and the private sector
to address
the critical need for skilled VistA programmers and clinical application
specialists in the healthcare industry. Through the VistA Institute, the
Hui
is working to establish a VistA resource center to enable distance
learning
of the application and increase the proficiency of VistA adopters
globally.
The Pacific Telehealth & Technology Hui was formed in 1999 with
the
encouragement and support of U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye. A subsidiary
of
the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) under
the
U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command, the Hui facilitates
interdisciplinary research partnerships with government, academia and
industry to advance the development of emerging technologies and improve
health care for beneficiaries in the Pacific region.

Tunnel it. Are you using GTM. If so, I have instructions for how to tunnel

it and use xinetd as well. It seems I have had to help troubleshoot
connections fairly frequently with folks if they don't work because there is

a firewall in the way or a permission issue or something, but you don't need

to use port 22 to tunnel. You will be using the ssh protocol, however.

I will email the instructions to you and I would appreciate it if you would
try it so I can get the bugs out of the instructions and then I will post
them on the wiki.

I want SSH (port 22) of course.

But my question is how much further should I go?
Do I need to open 9200-9210 for CPRS or would it be better tunneled
through port 22?

Suggestions please.

RE: [Hardhats-members] Converting a .dat file for use in GTM

2006-03-30 Thread Norman Dodd
Use %RO to copy the routines to a file, and use %GO to move the globals to
files. Next move the routines and globals to the linux box. On the linux
box run dos2unix to change the file formants to the linux format. Last, use
%GI and %RI to bring the routines and globals into linux.

specific patient health summaries to a laptop for field use and allows

quantum of work involved. It would be more economical if it is
done from India and we are looking at the possibility of funding
to support the project. The reason for the special interest is
that one of the multinationals here in India is also willing to

I recently needed a few hundred FOIA VistA VivitA 20060113 CDs (as
described at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=534554 and
downloadable from http://sourceforge.net/projects/worldvista) to hand
out at a trade show. Owing to the economics of CD replication
(manufacturing) vs. duplication, it was more economical for me to order
1,000 replicated CDs rather than get the quantity I needed duplicated,
and I now have several hundred more CDs than I can use.

I would be happy to mail you a FOIA VistA VivitA 20060113 CD anywhere in
the world that I can mail to. Also, if you need a bunch, e.g., 40 for a
class, please let me know - I have plenty.

Please reply to this e-mail (so that the Subject tells me what it is
regarding), but change the To: field to [EMAIL PROTECTED] to send it to
me off-list so that mailing list bandwidth is not taken up.

If you want to view the source code instead of HTML, change the URL to
http://openforum.worldvista.org/~forum/m.cgi/rtn/XUSHSH.txt

If you want to download the .m file, simply change the extension to ".m".
http://openforum.worldvista.org/~forum/m.cgi/rtn/XUSHSH.m

However, I would recommend using a stronger encryption method on a
production system.

When we called to obtain a new set of CPT codes, the AMA said that the VOE

The download from the AMA includes the Lexicon global as well. It's ALL

That worked fine when the CPT codes were only found in the ICPT global. Now
the codes are scattered throughout the Lexicon tables as well. It takes a
fair amount of work to knit things together.

How are they normally distributed? CSV files? Surely, writing code to
import the data wouldn't be that difficult. In any case, it certainly
makes more sense to write code to work with the format in which the CPT
codes are normally distributed than it does to wait for a special
version of each formatted as globals that can be read into a VistA
system.

Just my opinion.

Norman,

I need to go back and look at those posts, but as I recall, it was
along the lines of a method from extracting drugs from database A and
putting it into our database B. And for someone like myself, going
back and reinstalling a secondary copy of a database in order to get
the files out seems like a lot of work for a temporary solution, i.e.
new drugs need to be added all the time.

Am I missing something?

With the new CPRS client and a current FOIA distribution, you don't need
to start the listener. The connection request is fielded by
inetd/xinetd and a GT.M listener process is started to handle the
connection.

If you are running a listener, which attempts a reverse connection to
the client, I wonder if you have a network routing / firewall issue.
You won't encounter this with the direct connect approach (which is so
much easier to debug when it doesn't work as expected).

GT.M versions of %ZOSV and %ZOSV2, like the other %Z* routines FileMan needs

Hi George,
I wasn't trying to make a distinction between VA Fileman and MSC Fileman.
The problem is
that the new version(s) requires routine ^%ZOSV (and possibly other
utilities?) but does
not provide a version of it for GT.M.

We have standalone Fileman 21 in the VMTH and I upgraded a development
system to MSC
Fileman primarily to experiment with use of the DBS API's and one of our
programmers then
encountered errors in running "classic" Fileman for data dictionary
maintenance. I am out
on vacation and have not had time yet to look into it further or fix it.

Go to the EVE menu, then the PROGRAMMERS MENU, and then ERROR LOG. The
error should be in there.

Try D ^XUS. It goes to the acces code/verify code
prompt without first checking for licenses (I think).

RE: [Hardhats-members] Device attributes

After you put in the device HFS it should
allow you to change it to a new file name

attributes

Vista Gurus,

I am testing various areas of the program and sending output to
a text document using a HFS device. My problem is that my existing
file is overwritten everytime I create a new output.

Using the different device parameters, is it possible to create a
device that creates text files with an incrementing sequence number.

ex: TEMP001.TXT, TEMP002.TXT, TEMP003.TXT

I noticed that there are different device types SPL, SPD etc.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Robert L.

RE: [Hardhats-members] What is pharmacy term "CMOP"?

2005-11-28 Thread Norman Dodd

Cameron on FORUM there is a patch menu,
and on that patch menu there is an option called PATCH SUMMARY which allows one
to get a listing with a short description of every patch for a package.
Now that I am outside of the VA these options are no longer available to
me.  I found them very helpful when trying to patch up everything.
Do you think the VA could put these options, or a version of these options
outside of the firewall?  It would be great if they did.

Actually, it’s Consolidated Mail
Outpatient Pharmacy http://www.va.gov/vdl/Clinical.asp?appID=85

Veterans can phone in, mail in, fax in or
use the web to renew their prescriptions.  The prescription information is
then electronically transmitted to one of the huge facilities around the
country that fills and mails back the prescription.  Even the Department
of Defense uses the VA CMOP system to refill prescriptions for their patients.

OK.  Is this for
Veterans using a remote mail-in pharmacy?

Can you tell me more about this?

Thanks

Make a Fileman template and pick the fields that you want.

Hi:

Does anybody know how to modify the data fields in FOIAVIsta, just like
Pacific HUI did? For example, in the Patient file of HUI Vista the SERVICE
CONNECTED, TYPE and MULTIPLE BIRTH INDICATOR fields are not present.

In a world without Gates, there is no need for Window$$.

Kevin has sent me a ScreenCam of his VistA Images Demo and it is VERY
NICE!
He has added an extra tab in CPRS to handle viewing, choosing and filing the
images.  You can download it from my server if you would like to see
it.
Just send me an email and I will fire the instructions about how to get it
right back to you.

Hi Jim,

Good to hear from you. I still remember the ride to the MGH demo site for
the
largest client-server hospital system hosted by Intersystem's technology.

I did try to web-interface CoSTAR using weblink back in the 1999-2000, since

then
the clinic gone through some changes and development was stopped and I was
assigned
to some other duties until recently.

Yes, I still have a copy of CoSTAR in DTM format and I also import it to
Cache as well.
I can do a routine/global save for you, or sent all the DTM datasets minus
patient data, or Cache.dat
to you. Let know what is your preference and I can start working on it. I
have some of the documentation
on URL: www.mscostar.com/ms/mscentry.htm including the manual for the public

domain CoSTAR.

Yes, I believe there are still some people using CoSTAR
i.e. http://www.asystar.com/ in the States.
In BC, the Seymour Clinic with over 200,000 patients still using it
and in the process of adapting to Cache. But not too many sites to be
honest.

Regards
Kin
