Yes it would. I have been intending to add source code cross references to the
web based
source code viewer in M2Web, but since it seems that there is already an
infrastructure
for some of it in VistA, I would like to try to build on that and see where it
goes.

The Fileman files with numbers in the range between 9 and 10 seem to be
 intended as part
of what you are asking for.

File number 9.8 (ROUTINE) fields for brief and extended descriptions as well
 as for
globals referenced, local variables used, tags and parameters, routines
 invoked, routines
 invoked by etc.

 http://vista.vmth.ucdavis.edu/query?dbfile=ROUTINEformat=EXTENDEDindex=Name

Unfortunately, all of these are blank in my OpenVistA installations. Anyone
 here know what
to invoke to update this data from current routine sources?

Is there some way to know what each routine does without having to open
each of them and try to find out? Is there some document which has this

If not, is there some way to make a “Map” of how the routines interact
 with
 each other? UML? Something else?

if you look at the first few lines of a routine, it should contain comments as
to what the routine does. it wouldn't be too hard to write a routine to
display these comments of a given routine...

Try D ^%ZTP1

There is a SAC requirement that a description appear on the first line
of the code. For example, if you use this utility to print out the
first line of ^XUP, you should see something like

XUP ;SFISC/RWF - Setup enviroment for programmers ;09/21/2004
16:35

You can use wildcards, too. For example, if you want all the HL7
routines, select HL*. Finally, when asked if you want the 2nd lines
included, answer NO.
