I would disagree that blood sugars should be put in with blood
pressure and other vitals. There are many office bed-side labs that
can be done. Will these be put into the vitals? I.e. hemoglobin,
 INR...

I would like to see pulse oximetry be put in, though.

[Hardhats-members] Create new vital sign

2006-02-20 Thread Usha

Hi

I want to create a new vital sign to document sugar
level. How can I create this so that it is visible from CPRS and VITALS GUI and
be treated like existing vitals (temperature, B/P, etc.)?

Regards
Usha

Re: [Hardhats-members] Create new vital sign

2006-02-20 Thread Nancy Anthracite
There is a package in VistA that is made to input data for blood sugars done
with bedside glucose monitors of certain brands. I will try to dig up the
information on that if you want it.

But, the best I can thing to do is to find something in the vital signs
managers GUI that you can modify to fit. I thing it is called changing a
qualifier or something like that. For instance, for height at one time I put
in fundal in order to have a way to capture fundal height, even though that
is not part of the package and height was supposed to be the height of the
person, not the fundus.

Would like to know about input data for blood sugars done with bedside
glucose monitors. That's exactly what I was looking for.
