[H] Praise for x64/Nero Recode
Ok, finally setup a partition to run X64. Running a 4200+ X2. Nero Recode to manage a full DVD: 3000+ Venice (same board configuration) in XP64, Nero 7.0.8: 14:15 3000+ Venice (same board configuration) in XP, Nero 7.0.8: 16:13 4200+ X2 (same board configuration) in XP64: 5 mins, 32 Seconds 4200+ X2 (same board configuration) in XP: 9 mins, 39 Seconds Damn! Good work on behest of the Nero folks ;) (pics of outcomes available) http://www.kctechheads.com/nerorecode64.jpg

Re: [H] Praise for x64/Nero Recode
Very interesting. I can only speculate that the improved performance in x64 has more to do with the extra GPR's becoming available than any performance improvement just from being 64bit, but I hope we can see these gains across the board in content creation apps. The impact of 1MB of cache would indeed be interesting. I read somewhere that 64bit decreases the useful cache amount (due to the increased pointer size?), so we might see a bigger jump in a Toledo core. RE: [H] Praise for x64/Nero Recode
Realistically, either way, I appreciate the implications. Converting 8.5Gb Disc to a 4.5Gb disc as a test ;) I had no problems at all. Total time to convert Mirror Mask (which is a great movie, I bought mine right away and recommend it as a weird film worth seeing) was 5:32. Wallace Gromit: 4:59 :) Woo! Good perk. (as an FYI: I will openly admit, on this list, that childrens DVDs I copy as soon as I buy, and my kids can play with the copies rather then the originals. I'll be damned if I'll rebuy a bunch of originals, I learned that lesson after wiping out multiple copies of Ice Age ) CW -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Greg Sevart Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2006 9:11 PM To: The Hardware List Subject: Re: [H] Praise for x64/Nero Recode Very interesting.
