Re: [hardware] [H] Anybody know what happed to Autopatcher
So when you go to autopatcher.com or their thread on msfn.org you don't find it? All the torrent links I have still work Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless -Original Message- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 3 Dec 2006 22:24:11 To:"The Hardware List" Subject: Re: [hardware] [H] Anybody know what happed to Autopatcher - Original Message - From: "Neil Davidson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'The Hardware List'" Sent: Saturday, December 02, 2006 3:24 PM Subject: RE: [hardware] [H] Anybody know what happed to Autopatcher > > Here is a direct download. Is there some simple link that Outlook Express can be used to access and download it? I do not care if it is slow. I can let it download all night if need be. Thanks in advance, Chuck

Re: [H] Best Core2 Duo mobo?
A lot of people chose these boards for other reasons also. Since you've got 3 x8/x16 lane PCI-E slots, you've got optional support for future physics cards, capture cards, etc. It's a good bit of future proofing. Though, having a pair of 8800GTS is more a matter of making sure you whip up at games. I've got a box in right now where someone is spending $250 on a NIC. (KillerNIC). I just don't get it. Supposedly lowers ping. I don't even see how that's possible. Maybe it could -kinda- lower ping between you and your router in your house, but what power does it have at all over the latency between your cable modem and your provider? I can't think of any. If someone has any good logic on this that I'm missing, I'd love to hear it, but it seems to me I should just put a big heatsink on a 3COM, re-write the BIOS and market it as "DESTROY3R NIC" I wonder how many people would line up to buy it. There are different casings for exterior, interior, as well as plenum = fire resistant covers that meets code. At 11:31 AM 12/3/2006, you wrote: Inside, outside, in heat ducts or chaseways? Re: [H] Moving to Vista
Thanks for reply... I forgot to mention my QuickBooks is version 2005. That may be why your error sounds much different than mine. Opps! (I know better than to leave that out...) Rick Glazier From: "FORC5" no, just says does not like ie7 so I took it out (this is in XP) I turned that error off in Vista but then it complains that it is turned off, LAME. at this point hate to turn security warnings completely off ( if one can as easy as in XP ) used tweak vista to do this

Re: [H] Moving to Vista
Beware that 16 bit software won't run in Vista 64. This could wreak havoc with a lot of older installer code. FORC5 wrote: I have done two upgrades to xp and was impressed with the setup routine, worked very well. You only run into the fact some software doesn't work, hopefully that will be fixed with final release. AV software I kind of understand but why the hell excommunicate everybody else. I have some older programs I like that gave me fits in XP and have not tried to make them go in Vista yet. One being my envelope program the other taglines. Guess BG knows best. <:-| BTW the new NOD32 works very well in Vista and the TrendMicro MS recommends kills my LAN access. FWIW . I wonder about Kaspersky. Quickbooks complains about the new IE 7 in XP so I removed it. fp At 03:50 PM 12/1/2006, Bill Poked the stick with: Is there an upgrade path from XP or will Vista be a clean install.. THAT in and of itself might be the deciding factor for me.. Oh and the cost factor... Is it really worth the price just to pay for a new toy??? Bill

Yes, the hearing is good for an 86 year old, (Dec. 30 = 86 b-day). He's a retired chemistry and physics professor and is still sharp as a tack. Reads more in a day than I do in a week, current affairs, science mags, etc. His legs, however, are failing him. Motorola Walkabout Radio You can find these just about every where on line. And Home Depot sells them in their stores. Thanks. Will check into it. Lately, I have seen advertisements for a cell phone that is aimed entirely at seniors called " Jitterbox". snip Again, depending on their mental state, the problem will be getting them to carry it with them all the time. Has a cell phone and carries it mostly all the time. He keeps it on the stand next to the bed. But if he fell in the bathroom, he would be hard pressed to get to it. What's needed is panic buttons located throughout his area. Let me know if you find something better Will do. j maccraw wrote: > You'd think there is a pendant/wrist watch that would: > 1. have a panic button > 2. trigger on a fall/impact. > 3. open a 2-way audio channel > > The classic senior monitor's do 1 & 3 AFAIK and come > in both pendant & > wrist watch form factor. I will report on the solution. al
