Yes. Many smtps support the alternate port (port 587) as an option to get around exactly this Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless -Original Message- From: Winterlight <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2007 19:33:56 To:hardware@hardwaregroup.com Subject: [H] SMTP blocking I use the last version of Eudora 7 with COX. I can not send a reply out. I get this error ... Can't sent to". The server gives this reason: '553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts -- It doesn't matter if I try to do it with Eudora or Outlook 2003. It doesn't matter if I use Godaddy's SMTP or COX. Same problem. And it isn't one particular support desk. I have now had this problem since November with Bosh support, TMPgenc support, a online service that I subscribe to support , and now Linksys support. It only occurs when replying to a support message. I work around this by logging into Godaddy's web interface for the email account, and then sending the reply, without difficulty. So it can't be Godaddy that is blocking it. But why would COX block support desk messages. Anybody else see this?

Re: [H] Unlocked phones can't use internet?
I didn't think that was true. I have an unlocked GSM phone on Cingular's network and while I don't use it for MSS or surfing the internet the couple times I have tried connecting to the net it worked fine. that has been my experience as well, but with old Motorola 720i Is the above claim really true? I could see it for some of the walled garden features but not basic net access. Brian while it wouldn't surprise me if they did, I think they would open them selves up to anti trust investigation, not to mention a competitive disadvantage. Bottom line I don't see any good reason for them to do this.

[H] Unlocked phones can't use internet?
http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM.Tech.Q1.07/4DD0941D-9097-4FAE-A3BB-29DA5CA07199.html The following it taken from the above link: "When a phone is unlocked it loses its privileges on a provider's data network. An unlocked phone can make GSM calls and send basic SMS. No MMS, no Internet, no iTS. Apple would either have to reverse engineer a method to gain access to the data network (unlikely as most data networks require SSL-level security to access) or it would have to offer something different." Ditto, though all this will do is help with the really bad html "newsletters" as far as underlying format and security. Better from a sysadmin's standpoint, but still not nearly as good as plain text. -Original Message- From: JRS <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2007 10:21:36 To:The Hardware List Subject: Re: [H] MS At It Again.. RE: [H] MS At It Again..
Its not really something brand new as those blogs make it seem. MS limited the html rendering to increase security, sure breaks lots of HTML but then I never did like html email outside the very basic html for limited formatting. http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/10/05/56 Eli -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bill Sent: Monday, January 15, 2007 12:29 PM To: 'The Hardware List' Subject: [H] MS At It Again.. [H] Nero Burning ROM and interrupts.
Hey, I had used Nero Vision to create a DVD (written to the HD). This way, I could use Nero Burning ROM (NBR) to write the data to DVD at my leisure. Anyway, my system seemed sluggish while using NBR to burn the DVD to disk. I am using the DVD-Video DVD type in NBR. So, I get looking around and hardware interrupts are using 40-50% of my CPU time. Since I have a HT CPU, it is probably close to 100% in reality. Has anyone else seen this? Should I be burning the DVD in a different way? Thanks, Bobby
