[H] Latest version of Java for Ubuntu?
I have version 1.42 installed now but I am trying to get GCALDaemon to work so I can sync with Google Calendar and it says I need Java version 1.5 or later. Through all the normal distro channels all I can find is 1.4x. Is there a more recent version for ubuntu (debian) and does someone have a download link? -- Brian Weeden
Re: [H] Latest version of Java for Ubuntu?
Why not just download the official Sun Java installer? http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Brian Weeden wrote: I have version 1.42 installed now but I am trying to get GCALDaemon to work so I can sync with Google Calendar and it says I need Java version 1.5 or later. Re: [H] Word Template Upgrade?
If you want, send me a copy of a document saved in the template and I can try printing it against a HP Laser and a Canon Laser and see if I get the halftone or not. I suspect it's the printer driver. DHSinclair wrote: Another Odd One, I have a Word template (dot) that I use for all my general correspondence. I started it in MS Word '97. Somehow, now in Word 2003, this template is dorked, or, not compatible. I suspect. :) Since I have upgraded to Word 2003, I have noticed that when I call my general letter template up and use it, it looks correct on the screen. After I use it and print a file copy of the finished letter, I get a page that is missing the half-tone background. (hmm printer problem?) The header and trailer text I've entered appear to be OK. Only the half-tone background is missing from the print-send. (The half-tone, dot-matrix, background is a block at the top and bottom under my my header and footer; plus the image of the globe in the center of the letter.) Is this my template being just too old? Has my printer taken a dive? Is my Printer driver south? Is this just Word 2K3 being its' usual? If this IS my old Word97 template, is there anyone on the List that can dick with it and update it to work with Word03? Best, Duncan This email scanned for Viruses and Spam by ZCloud.net

[H] Vista Wallpaper ?
When I goto the place in Vista to change the wallpaper it does not show the picture in the thumbnail, for that matter all picture thumbnails are shown as some generic picture. When I open them fine. I suspect something to do with Vista Business. Have poked and poked with no luck. Why O y does there have to be 6 versions of the same darn OS. :'( Thanks fp -- Tallyho ! ]:8) Taglines below ! -- How come I get all the hard questions?
Re: [H] Latest version of Java for Ubuntu?
Running the apt-get install line tells me that I already have the most recent version. Now I ran the Java Web Console and it reported me as having version 1.6.0. Now I don't know if that's the version of the web control or the actual Java JRE. I went to the manual Java download site and the file listed for Linux was jre-6u2-linux-i586.rpm. Now I already have that version. Something weird is going on or maybe a misunderstanding. Maybe I need to pull my version back to 1.5 instead of 2.x? -- Brian Weeden On 7/31/07, Tharin Olsen [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts -Tharin O.
