Nature of the beast. It's both incredibly sad and incredibly exciting.

restore run off the restore partition
Thanks
I found some info about fixing this error but we just wiped the drive and put
in a fresh copy.

I also own and recommend UltraISO.

Well worth the price. :)

You can't go insane as I'm already there. I too have my PC on the

make it quieter there is a point of diminishing returns of getting less
decibel control per $ spent & I belive I'm there.

I would suggest resetting the cmos/bios to defaults as a start.

I've only seen the error on systems from HP that didn't have the tattoo applied
to the bios. My business often does sub-contract work for extended warranty
companies and when replacing motherboards in HP/Compaq systems we have to go
through a process of running a special application that tags the mainboard's
bios with information like the serial number, model number, etc. If a board
were replaced and system recovery was run before going through the tattoo
procedure you might encounter the code purple error. I think it stems from the
OEM copy of Windows XP that are catered made for HP when it comes to the
licensing/activation stuff.

What sort of restore did you do?

[H] Overhead Projector Mount

2007-09-21 Thread Brian Weeden
I am remodeling our basement for a home theater and was thinking about
pre-wiring it for an overhead projector mount. We currently use a
rear projection DLP TV so I wouldn't be using it but I figured it was
decent future proofing.

What sort of things should I be thinking of? Right now I was planning
on putting in an electrical outlet, a bracket to mount the projector
to, and flex tubing back to the A/V rack so wiring can be run easily.
Anything else?

Re: [H] A Neat Build?

2007-09-21 Thread Anthony Q. Martin
I like the case...that's a good price with the PS...just remember to
remove the PS cage before putting in the PS...and too, IMO, mount the PS
with the fan facing down, so you can easily route the cables behind the
wall. The tri-cool fans are super quiet, too. I'm using the stock PC
hs/fan and I hear nothing coming from this machine. It case is rather
biggish, but that makes it easier to work inside. I think one advantage
of the Antec PS is that you don't have to worry too much about the cable
lengths so you can reach them along the back and still reach the mobo
power connections. It's not clear of that is a sure thing with some
other PS, though, hopefully it is with the better ones.

I have been looking at these since they came out ( and were much more pricey) Layout seems weird.

I ask because Fry's has this case in the add today with a 550watt Antec NeoHE
PSU for $220 and I need a case for a customer build and need a good one. Was
going to go with either a Lian-Li or Supermicro and think the Supermicro may be
too heavy ( though tuff )

Are there any wizards of the "neat build"? If so, any tips?

With my new case (Antec P182), I can route most of the cabling behind the panel that holds the mobo...all of the connections for the PS are done this way. Even those coming from the SATA ports to the CDs go behind...not sure what can be around about front panel connections, though, or the sata cables going out to the HDs...I guess these can be cable-tied...I've currently tucked them into the HD case in the empty space there (doesn't seem optimal for air-flow, though).
I guess when it comes right down to it, even in its present state, this is the cleanest (and quietest?) build I've ever done. I guess I could be happy with things as there are now, but I thought it wise to seek knowledge from those with more experience, before closing the case! :)

Thx.
