2008-05-03 Thread Brian Weeden
Never mind, just got my question answered on a forum somewhere. Turns out
you need to disable the "descriptive video" feature in the settings menu.

No friggin clue what it does or what caused the problem in the first place
but it "fixed" it.

[H] No audio on Comedy Central on StarChoice

2008-05-03 Thread Brian Weeden
My wife and I get StarChoice (Canadian satellite) here in Montreal and we
have a weird problem. There's no audio signal for Comedy East and West
through our HD decoder box. The audio on all the other channels works just
fine, only those channels. I'm running the signal through my Onkyo 777
receiver and I think the channels are using some sort of non-standard
encoding that the receiver can't figure out. It's not the dish as it works
fine on the upstairs box.

Any ideas?

Don't worry, it's final. The KB article itself just hasn't been updated
 yet
to reflect the final bits. Same thing happened for Vista SP1.

The TechNet version is the same.

What about Western Digital's new VelociRaptor? 10K RPM SATA II 300 gb drive.
Should be available RSN. About $300 each -- total $600 for 2 with 600 GB vs
$560 for 300 GB of the older Raptor drives.

Perhaps worth the wait?

Jesus, an entire article dedicated to a command line.

[service pack] -s:[XP RTM source folder]

done.

nlite is a cool program but you dont need it to slipstream a service pack.

Re: [H] dumb ?

2008-05-03 Thread j maccraw
Dunno but if their like compaq recovery disks, your
only choice is full re-install
and no just reinstalling some app from the bundle. The
use some whack archiving
system that hands you a pack of CD's that can't be
used in any other way.

The one dell version that was floating around did not
need activation but certainly
had an embedded key. IIRC SP'ing it broke the no
activate functionality until you
manually replaced some file on the cd with others from
the SP. Thus one would assume
you could make almost any version no activation
assuming you have a legit key to embed.
