Re: [H] New TV.
Ours has a "white" setting to almost eliminate burnin. They give you lots of ways to get around it. Decent manual and online help. You can get a 1080p for 11-1200 bucks, or a 720p, which we have, in the 7-800 bracket. A little shopping and maybe you can trim some off of that and sell the wife on it. They have HDMI, DVI, composite, coax, and optical inputs, and some other stuff. We have Dish Network and a VIP722 DVR HiDef tuner, Phillips DVD, and a digital Yamaha sound system which all couple up very well. I'm trying to figure out how to set up a wireless connection from my PC and wife's laptop without spending an arm and a leg. Don't really know what your parameters are, but this is the absolute best bang for the buck: http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/458892796/samsung-hl67a750?s_c=site_search It won't hang on a wall, though. Re: [H] New TV.
I have just been looking at the Samsungs. Specifically the LN52A650. Personally, I could easily go for the LN52A750, but I don't think I can get it past the wife. Especially since I just spent approx $1800 on building me a new pc. LOL. Thanks for the reply. Thanks for the suggestions Al and Winterlight. He just got a wireless-N nic. I asked and he doesn't think it has an antenna jack on it. I'll look into the wireless bridge stuff. [H] Extending wireless...
Hey, My boss was asking me how he could solve the following problem. He races on the weekends and has a large trailer to carry his car and other equipment. He wants to be able to access the Wi-Fi via his laptop from inside the trailer while he is at the track but he cannot get a signal while in the trailer. He wanted to know what he could do to get the signal inside of the trailer. One thought I had was for him to place a wireless access point on the outside of the trailer and have it wired to the laptop. I do not know if this would work though. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks, Bobby
Re: [H] Getting a second audiophile sound card - external?
yes, I would have a totally separate system for each sound card. I'm hoping the Creative system will be the default, and woth a couple of mouse clicks I can disable it and enable the high-end audio system. I've been told that I can do that through the ASIO drivers, I'll have to check it out when I decide. - Original Message - From: "Steve Tomporowski" To: Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2009 05:52 Subject: Re: [H] Getting a second audiophile sound card - external? If the driver of the 2nd card allows it, you should theoretically be able to just switch cards. You'd also need to switch your speakers, unless you have two sets (which I tried once). Now, how would I switch between the two sound cards if I want to go from gaming to listening to audio? Is it as simple as switching settings in "Sound and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel? Each sound card will have it's own dedicated amp/speaker setup so no plugging/unplugging would be necessary. - Original Message - From: "Steve Tomporowski" To: Sent: Wednesday, March 11, 2009 04:14 Subject: Re: [H] Getting a second audiophile sound card - external? Some M-Audio boards have issues with being the 2nd card under certain operating systems. For example I have an Audiophile 2496 and it will not work as the 2nd card under MCE. So, I'd give their tech support a call and see if there are any issues. I hope the ProFire has better drivers because M-Audio admits that at least the Audiophile 2496, which admittedly is an old card, has 3rd party developed drivers, M-Audio having given up development at some point. Question is, do you folks think I will have any issues with conflicts with the Creative card if I get a secondary card, wither external or internal? It works fine for me for gaming and I don't have any great need to dump it, but I do have a great need to find a high-quality audio sound card.
