[H] My second Ubiquiti Networks Unifi 802.11ac Dual-Radio PRO Access Point

2020-10-05 Thread _ Winterlight
I purchased a second Ubiquiti Networks Unifi 802.11ac Dual-Radio PRO Access
Point (UAP-AC-PRO-US), Single,White. I have been using the existing one for the
last 3 years and I want to put a second one in my back yard. Once I plug it
into the existing network will it configure itself as an extender? If not what
do I have to do to make them work together? Thanks

Do you have a UniFi cloud key? If so, you just need to adopt it, otherwise I
think you need to configure it.

When you launch the Unifi controller software you can adopt the new
controller. You'll need to have it connected through ethernet when you do
that.

Once the device is adopted and provisioned you can unplug it and use the
wireless uplink.

Good luck! I love these devices, I use them all over the place at work.

 >>>ou'll need to have it connected through ethernet

by that you mean plug the existing Unifi directly into the new Unifi ? So I
leave the router plugged into the existing Unifi and use the free port to plug
into the new Unifi ... which new Unifi port the router or the second one?

No. You need to use the Unifi Controller software to adopt the new Unifi
on to the existing network.

You do this by plugging into your normal network.
