Have you tried looking at the root in XP explorer? There might be a file with some naming error in it. Try to delete the file if it is not of any value. If that does not work try using a folder utility like FAR to delete it or rename it. Also, this could mean the command dir is damaged somehow and you will need to fix the OS itself. This is rather rare, but I have seen it in the past. [H] CHKDSK problem in XP
I'm having an odd problem with an XP computer. If I go to the root directory and type dir /s after awhile I get a bubble message telling me that a file is corrupt (no name is given) and I should run chkdsk. If I run chkdsk (on reboot or from PE) it shows no problems. Any ideas what I could try? T
