Re: [H] Latest version of Java for Ubuntu?
Running the apt-get install line tells me that I already have the most recent version. Now I ran the Java Web Console and it reported me as having version 1.6.0. Now I don't know if that's the version of the web control or the actual Java JRE. I went to the manual Java download site and the file listed for Linux was jre-6u2-linux-i586.rpm. Now I already have that version. Something weird is going on or maybe a misunderstanding. Maybe I need to pull my version back to 1.5 instead of 2.x? -- Brian Weeden On 7/31/07, Tharin Olsen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts > > -Tharin O. > > > Brian Weeden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I have version 1.42 installed now but I am trying to get GCALDaemon to > work so I can sync with Google Calendar and it says I need Java > version 1.5 or later. Why not just download the official Sun Java installer? http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Brian Weeden wrote: I have version 1.42 installed now but I am trying to get GCALDaemon to work so I can sync with Google Calendar and it says I need Java version 1.5 or later. [H] Latest version of Java for Ubuntu?
I have version 1.42 installed now but I am trying to get GCALDaemon to work so I can sync with Google Calendar and it says I need Java version 1.5 or later. Through all the normal distro channels all I can find is 1.4x. Is there a more recent version for ubuntu (debian) and does someone have a download link? -- Brian Weeden
