Re: [H] Moving on after MAPS subscription

2013-12-16 Thread DSinc

James,
I never had a MAPS subscription. I just shopped around and bought my 3
copies of W7pro (retail). I got this one's that have both32-bit and
64-bit. Yes, I am
aware that the List believes that 64-bit is the way to go. Fine. In due
time I will
totally erase my 'test' PC, install a 128G Samsung 840Pro SSD, and,
install Win7pro.

Then, I will figure out how to stitch this PC back into my home LAN.
Yes, I do expect a strong learning curve. But just because I expect
Win7pro to be very

different than WinXPpro. I will learn it somehow.
I plan to do a the erase-then-build plan. Kind of like a total start
over-move forward.
The List tells me Win7 is very solid, even with its' quirks. Not sure I
helped or not

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Duncan

retail/oem/upgrade versions without doing a complete re-install. I am using
Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit as the OS on 2 systems with Office Pro 2010
productivity software. In addition, I have two systems using Win 7 Pro 64
bit as the OS for HTPCs without an Office product.

First, I have two copies of Windows XP Pro that I can use to "upgrade" to
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, if possible. I am considering Win 7 Home Premium
OEM for the HTPCs.

Any ideas suggestions to make this as painless as possible?
