Brian, you are of course, correct. The normal list rule has been to allow a thread to run no more then three days. However, even after 1 day, we're generating way to much traffic, and too much of it still HTML format, which doesn't make many people happy.
So, why don't we say, after 12 AM PST tonight, the thread ends.
