Sorry, it was "micro" not mini for 2MB which is what they cut the 54GS down to after v4. My bad, getting rusty I guess? ;) Yes, WRT54GL is listed as compatible w/ any @4MB flash albeit 802.11g only. There are more than a few g/n models that also work from various vendors. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices James Boswell wrote: Mini is targetted at the later model WRT54G/GS that only have 2MB of flash memory, the GL will take DD-WRT or Tomato without problems. ? Re: [H] Linksys routers
I know this defeats the original purpose of this thread, but I just recently moved to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station, and I am so far quite happy with it. For some reason it just works better in my configuration rather than my previous Asus (DDWRT) and Buffalo (Tomato) routers. I had issues regarding streaming multimedia (especially video) in my house and had occasional stutters (maybe 1 every 5 minutes). The Apple router doesn't exhibit this and surprisingly the wireless coverage is better despite me having a high gain antenna on the buffalo (in conjunction with the built in amplifier). I do really miss the amazing real time stats from Tomato, but since the Apple router is working fine, I don't see a reason to go back. I wish I was located in the states because I have 4 routers (all DDWRT and/or Tomato compatible) that I would like to sell. Re: [H] Linksys routers
I honestly think mini-DDWRT is more than most people will ever use. I even used Micro and that is more than enough for most home users. Either is more feature packed than the standard firmware that comes on these routers anyway. If the OP is looking for a stable replacement for his old WRT54G v4, then the WRT54GL will do a great job. Add DDWRT and it is the perfect G wireless router in my book. -Original Message- From: hardware-boun...@hardwaregroup.com [mailto:hardware-boun...@hardwaregroup.com] On Behalf Of maccrawj Sent: Monday, February 16, 2009 12:58 PM To: hardware@hardwaregroup.com Subject: Re: [H] Linksys routers mini indicates exactly what I talking about which is they halved the memory for some stupid reason.
