Re: [H] When will we see DX10 Video Cards?

I'll probably wait until Vista comes out to build. I mean we are only
looking at January or February.

I was hoping some decent options for DX10 video cards would be worthy
of purchase by then.

Wasn't it already pretty well known that both red and green wouldn't
be focusing on power efficiency this time around?
That's the reason I plunked down the moolah for a X1900XT now (since
the power efficient, 2nd gen DX10 parts are

still quite a bit aways).

BTW : Anyone notice that red is no longer red anymore (visit

I have done a lot of reading over the weeks. Reading a lot of
conflicting information. I'm holding off on building a new PC because
I'm not sure if DX10 cards will be out Early 2007 or Late 2007! I am
betting there are people on this list that have been in the biz with
the info and able to get a better read on what might happen better
than I can.

I know I will need vista to use DX10. I dont want it. I am fine with
XP. I know I will need it. WHY? I'm a private pilot that is not able
to fly as much as I would like and spend a lot of spare time inside
Microsofts Flight Simulator. FSX is out and will utilize DX10, and its
killing a lot of so-called high end machines out there now. My P4 3.2,
1GB DDR Ram, ATI 9800XT 256MB rig surely will fall to its knees. I
have saved enough to build NOW, but am trying with all my might to be
PATIENT and wait.

If its going to be a year before we see DX10 cards, maybe I'll just
pull the trigger and build the best dual core PC I can muster with my
hard saved funds. If its a few months out I'll wait.

BUT NOT KNOWING IS A DIFFICULT PILL TO SWALLOW! Especially when you
are ready NOW.

What do you folks think?

Thanks!

sitting on the fence can be a bitch, I have a permanent seat there lately :-|
I am a private pilot ( single engine and Glider) and did not like MS flight
sim, just not the same, now combat flight sims better imo

I have done some time in IL2 with some friends, not as much in CFS. As
for MSFS, the last version with scenery and road add-ons my local area
was almost exact. I used it a lot for navigation work. Your not going
to learn how to land in MSFS, LOL. But it will help you if you know
what you are doing already, keep sharp on checklists, navigation, etc.
Plus I like eye candy :-)

The sitting on the fence thing is worse when you have some $$ to burn
which doesnt come often. :-)
